Job Summary:
The IT Manager will oversee the company's IT operations and ensure the security of our systems, data, and communications. This role will manage IT infrastructure, implement cybersecurity policies, and support the technological needs of our fast-paced plumbing business. The IT Manager will also serve as the primary liaison with the company's Managed Service Provider (MSP), ensuring service quality, performance accountability, and alignment with the company's IT and security objectives. The ideal candidate is proactive, detail-oriented, and capable of balancing IT operations with robust security measures to protect sensitive business and customer data.
Key Responsibilities IT Infrastructure Management:
Oversee the maintenance and optimization of IT systems, including servers, networks, and cloud-based platforms both internally and in collaboration with the MSP. Coordinate with the MSP to manage hardware and software procurement, installation, and maintenance for office and field operations. Ensure reliable connectivity and system performance for remote and on-site employees, addressing escalations from the MSP when needed. Support the integration of business applications (e.g., CRM, ERP, scheduling software) in conjunction with MSP-provided services.
Information Security:
Work with MSP and company leadership to develop, implement, and enforce cybersecurity policies and procedures to protect company and customer data. Conduct regular risk assessments and audits to identify vulnerabilities and ensure compliance with industry standards (e.g., CIS, NIST, PCI DSS). Oversee the MSP's management of firewalls, antivirus systems, intrusion detection, and encryption protocols. Collaborate with the MSP on incident response and mitigation plans for cyber threats or data breaches.
Compliance and Training:
Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and other data protection laws. Manage and select content for existing employee training programs on cybersecurity best practices and data handling. Maintain documentation for IT and security policies, procedures, and incident reports.
Vendor and Stakeholder Collaboration:
Manage the relationship with the MSP to ensure service level agreements (SLAs) are met and documented. Conduct regular reviews with the MSP to assess service quality, upcoming needs, and performance metrics. Coordinate with leadership to align IT and security strategies with business goals. Facilitate clear, timely communication between internal stakeholders and the MSP. Provide technical support and guidance to employees and field technicians.
Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery:
Develop and test disaster recovery and business continuity plans to ensure operational resilience. Maintain backup systems and recovery protocols to minimize downtime in case of system failures or cyberattacks. Ensure that the MSP maintains backup systems and recovery protocols that align with company needs.
Growth Support:
Scale IT infrastructure to support the company's rapid expansion across the Southeast. Recommend and implement new technologies to enhance operational efficiency and customer service. Monitor emerging cybersecurity threats and adapt strategies to protect the business.
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field. 5+ years in IT management with experience in information security tools. Experience in a fast-paced, growing business environment is a plus.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in managing Windows/Linux servers, cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure), and network infrastructure. Expertise in cybersecurity tools (e.g., firewalls, SIEM systems, endpoint protection). Familiarity with business applications such as Sage, Bolt Project Management Software, or other plumbing industry software. Knowledge of scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell) is a plus. Experience managing or working closely with a third-party MSP, including SLA oversight and vendor coordination.
Certifications (Preferred):
Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) CompTIA Security+ or Network+ ITIL Foundation or similar certifications
Soft Skills:
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills. Excellent communication and leadership abilities to manage cross-functional teams. Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Requirements
Willingness to travel occasionally within the Southeast for on-site support or assessments. Ability to respond to critical IT or security incidents outside regular business hours. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation. Benefits
