Job Summary:
Under the general direction of the Therapeutic Behavioral Services Coordinator/Staff Therapist or Therapeutic Behavioral Services Director, the Therapeutic Behavioral Services (TBS) Specialist will provide direct one-on-one behavioral interventions to assist a client in eliminating destructive behaviors, minimizing impulsivity and promote pro-social functioning. The Therapeutic Behavioral Services Specialist serves as a positive role model for clients and assists in the development of adaptive daily living skills and competencies that are required to successfully live in the community.
Essential Functions Provide 1:1 behavior intervention for clients based on client's treatment plan. Chart progress notes, etc. in compliance with State of California standards for Short-Doyle/Medi-Cal/EPSDT. Complete all charting/paperwork within 48 hours of service delivery. Regularly communicate/consult with Clients' therapist, Clients' treatment team, TBS Coordinator/Staff Therapist and/or TBS Director regarding client's behavior, progress and treatment goals. Participate in all child/family team meetings. Provide systems-oriented interventions to develop parenting skills for client's family, foster family or support system Participate in all child/family team meeting Available to schedule session if client is in crisis or has severe behaviors Attend staff trainings and in-services Sensitive and responsive to the cultural differences among the agency's client population Active participant in the quality improvement project The TBS Specialist will take on special projects or additional duties as assigned by the TBS Coordinator/Staff Therapist and/or TBS Director.

Ability to work as a part of a multi-disciplinary team Ability to read, write, speak and understand English Ability to remain calm in challenging or stressful situations Knowledge of applied behavioral analysis and positive behavioral interventions preferred Ability to maintain appropriate and professional boundaries with clients, families and staff Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree plus one-year of full time experience working in a group home, hospital, S.E.D. designated classroom, day treatment or other equivalent setting OR
Associate of Arts degree in a human services field plus three years of experience working in a group home, hospital, S.E.D. designated classroom, day treatment or other equivalent setting. OR
High School diploma plus four years of experience working in a group home, hospital, S.E.D. designated classroom, day treatment or other equivalent setting OR
DMH sponsored TBS certification for training and internship Certifications and Licenses
Valid California driver's license
Additional Requirements
Tuberculosis clearance Department of Justice/Fingerprint clearance Satisfactory completion of health screening
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of a TBS Specialist the employee is often required to drive, sit, walk and stand. The employee is occasionally required run, bend, kneel and use his/her fingers and hands to manipulate a keyboard or writing instrument.
Work Environment
The work environment is indoors and outdoors. Work is performed in an office, client's home or community setting. The noise level may vary from quiet to loud.
