Reporting to the Vice President of Student Services, the Dean of Student Development provides strategic leadership for a variety of areas including Academic & Career Advising, Athletics (NJCAA), Disability Resources, Tutoring, Student Life and Engagement, and student related federally funded programs (e.g., Strengthening Indigenous Student Success (NASNTI grant) and TRIO-Student Support Services (TRIO-SSS)).This role is instrumental in advancing CCC's institutional goals around student retention and completion through initiatives such as Achieve the Dream (ATD), the 4 Disciplines of Execution (4DX), and holistic students support strategies. The Dean serves as the College's Judicial Officer and Chairs the CARE Team (Behavioral Intervention Team). Strategic Leadership & Student Success

Assist the Vice President of Student Services in advancing key institutional initiatives-including Achieve the Dream, Four Disciplines of Execution (4DX), and basic needs efforts-to ensure services and supports align with strategic goals and student success outcomes. Co-chair the Student Services Leadership Council (SSLC) with the Dean of Enrollment and Student Financial Services, fostering divisional alignment and cross-departmental collaboration. Provide leadership for first-year experience and student success initiatives-including mandatory advising, tutoring and basic needs programming-while fostering a student-centered culture that encourages innovation and enhances the student experience across all supervised departments. Lead accreditation-related activities for Student Development, including program reviews, documentation of continuous improvement, and co-curricular learning outcomes assessment in alignment with Higher Learning Commission (HLC) expectations. Use institutional data and national research to evaluate and improve student retention, persistence, and completion outcomes.

Departmental Oversight & Supervision

Provide leadership and operational oversight for Academic and Career Advising, Athletics, Disability Resources, Tutoring, Student Life and Engagement, and federally funded programs such as TRIO-SSS and Strengthening Indigenous Student Success (SISS). Ensure athletic programs comply with NJCAA and conference regulations while promoting opportunities for program growth and expansion. Supervise, mentor, and evaluate direct reports; promote high performance, trust, accountability, and continuous professional development. Foster cross-team collaboration by guiding strategic alignment, Wildly Important Goal (WIG) development, and coordinated planning to ensure progress toward institutional priorities.

Fiscal & Resource Management

Manage and align area budgets with institutional goals, grant requirements, and compliance standards. Monitor expenditures to ensure adherence to college, state, and federal financial guidelines; provide budget training to staff as needed. Collaborate with the CCC Foundation, Grants Office, and external partners to pursue additional funding opportunities and expand holistic student support services.

Compliance, Conduct & Risk Management

Administer the student conduct process, ensure compliance with due process standards, and addresses student behavioral concerns through both formal and informal resolution methods. Serve as a Deputy Title IX Coordinator/Investigator, leading or assisting with investigation, awareness, and prevention programs. Collaborate closely with the Title IX Coordinator (VP of Student Services), VP of Human Resources, and Chief of Campus Security to ensure compliance with Title IX and Clery Act obligations. Lead campus behavioral intervention efforts by chairing the CARE Team; coordinate training, develop protocols, and manage student cases through resolution. Ensure strategic and policy-level leadership for ADA/504 compliance by supporting the Disability Resources Coordinator in providing appropriate accommodations across all college settings. Ensure all mandatory compliance training (e.g., FERPA, Clear, ADA/504, Title IX, IT Security) is completed by staff in supervised areas.

Community & Institutional Engagement

Collaborate with Northern Arizona University (e.g., AZ-Ahead, EOC, CCC2NAU/Universal Admissions) and other external partners to support seamless student pathways and shared programming. Represent CCC in local, state, and national organizations and workgroups. Build and sustain partnerships with external stakeholders (e.g., NASPA Region VI) to advance student success and institutional goals.

Communication & Operational Coordination

Promote transparent communication across Student Services by coordinating departmental events, sharing institutional updates, and fostering feedback loops to support continuous improvement and integration into college-wide communications. Coordinate with colleagues to maintain timely and accurate publications of key materials, including the Code of Student Conduct, department webpages, and community resource lists.

Demonstrated knowledge, skills and abilities in:

Knowledge of laws and regulations such as FERPA, ADA/504, Clery, and Title IX, and the ability to apply them effectively within a higher education setting. Ability to investigate and adjudicate student conduct and/or Title IX violations in accordance with institutional policies and procedures, and state and/or federal guidelines. Skill in building cohesive, high-performing teams through collaborative leadership in dynamic and evolving environments. Proficiency in managing complex budgets, including forecasting and ensuring compliance across varied funding requirements. Knowledge of student success strategies and application thereof to increase student persistence, retention, and completion. Understanding of Student Services administration, particularly within a community college context. Ability to supervise and engage employees using emotional intelligence, sound management practices, and inclusive leadership. Proficiency in using student information systems (e.g., Banner, PeopleSoft), advising tools (e.g., DegreeWorks), and conduct case management platforms (e.g., Maxient, Guardian). Skill in assessing the effectiveness and efficiency of student services programs and departments using qualitative and quantitative methods. Ability to make data-informed decisions and implement continuous improvements. Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively across platforms and with diverse audiences. Ability to foster collegial relationships and work collaboratively with internal departments and external partners. Ability to represent the College professionally at meetings, events, and conferences at the local, state, and national levels. Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

Master's Degree in Higher Education, Counseling, and Student Personnel or related degree from an accredited institution. Four (4) years of increasingly responsible experience administering, developing, implementing, and evaluating student services programs in a higher education setting. Two (2) years of direct experience in student behavior misconduct, to include the investigation and adjudication of student conduct cases. Any equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job may be considered.

Preferred Qualifications

Full-time administrative experience in a community college. Certification in Student Conduct Administration, Title IX Coordinator and Investigator Certifications, etc. Doctorate in related field.
