A Brief Overview
This position serves as a registered cardiac sonographer in the echocardiography laboratory and at the cardiology satellite offices. The cardiac sonographer III is required to perform all aspects of an echocardiographic exam, have a strong knowledge of cardiac pathology/echo equipment and work with students/staff. The cardiac sonographer III also contributes skills to assist with an efficient operation of the department. Perform other duties as assigned.
Additional Responsibilities Performs other duties as assigned. Complies with all policies and standards. For specific duties and responsibilities, refer to documentation provided by the department during orientation. Must abide by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for our patients. Annual training, the UH Code of Conduct and UH policies and procedures are in place to address appropriate use of PHI in the workplace.
Qualifications: Education
High School Equivalent / GED (Required) and Graduate of an approved Cardiovascular Technology Program (Required) or Graduate of an approved Sonography Program with cross-training in echocardiography (Required) Work Experience
5+ years Experience in echo, preferably in a tertiary care setting (Required) Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Extensive knowledge of cardiac pathology; (Required proficiency) Demonstrated competence with all aspects of echo exams: transthoracic, transesophageal, stress, pharmacologic; (Required proficiency) Ability to use all types of echo machines; (Required proficiency) basic computer skills; (Required proficiency) good communication skills (Required proficiency) Licenses and Certifications
Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) (Required Upon Hire) or Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) (Required Upon Hire) or Advanced Cardiac Sonographer (ACS) (Required Upon Hire) Basic Life Support (BLS) (Required Upon Hire) Physical Demands
