Founding Senior Network Engineer

We're building a suite of agents that will form the collective intelligence of the world's smartest network engineer. We are seeking our first Founding Senior Network Engineer for a one of a kind role in training network automation workflows and LLMs with network engineering reasoning. In this role, you will play a pivotal role in engaging with our customers (network operators) as a forward deployed network engineer, and our engineering/product team to help shape how our AI understands, responds to, and resolves real-world network issues. In doing so, you will support a wide-array of customers, from the fastest growing AI companies, to the most established data centers, ISPs, MSPs and enterprises in the world. This position is ideal for someone with extensive experience in network automation, a strong background in operational troubleshooting, and with superb communication skills. You will be joining a team of ~5 engineers and expected to own projects from end to end while driving the pace of product development on the team. New York City, NY (Hybrid, office 4 days a week) Key Responsibilities Work closely with our clients to understand their networking stack, workflows, needs and challenges. Collaborate with Software team to codify network engineering concepts, agentic LLM workflows, and networking troubleshooting logic. Define and refine automation scripts to address common network tasks, anomalies, and outages. Identify gaps in AI reasoning and provide detailed guidance to improve model performance. Develop and maintain network engineering scenarios to evaluate and enhance AI capabilities. Provide feedback and insights on AI-driven automations to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and reliability. Serve as a subject matter expert for network protocols, systems, and operational best practices. Partner with product and development teams to align AI capabilities with user needs. Resolve issues, end-to-end, across the full stack, including wireless, wired and security devices. Troubleshoot and resolve complex, time-sensitive network issues across wired, wireless, and security device Develop proactive monitoring strategies and comprehensive playbooks to enhance support operations. Diagnose firmware issues, analyze packet exchanges, and troubleshoot network performance problems 7+ years of professional experience in network engineering with a focus on automation. Strong expertise across the full networking stack (wired, wireless, firewalls), with hands-on troubleshooting experience. Strong understanding of network protocols (e.g., BGP, OSPF, MPLS), troubleshooting, and operational workflows. Hands-on experience with network automation tools such as Ansible, Terraform, or Python-based frameworks as well as with potential digital twin frameworks Familiarity with network management platforms and monitoring tools (e.g., SolarWinds, Nagios, Cisco ThousandEyes). At least one certification (CCNA, CWNA, CCNP, or CCIE). Proven ability to document and communicate complex technical processes effectively. Exceptional communication and collaboration skills to handle escalated technical issues Nice to haves Experience working with network automation techniques and platforms like LibreNMS, Netbox, Ansible, Nautobot, gNMI, and more. Knowledge of a variety of network OEM vendor technologies and platforms like Cisco, Juniper, Ad-Tran, Calix, Ubiqiti, and more. Knowledge of various network topologies: core data center, fixed wireless, fiber, wifi, & more. Exposure to time series data analysis and anomaly detection in networks. Strong client-facing experience in high-touch enterprise environments. Passion for bridging human expertise with AI-driven solutions. Networking tools: Netbox, UISP (Ubiquiti), TAUC (TPLink), JunOS, Calix Cloud, Cambian, etc. Python / Django React / Typescript Terraform AWS Sentry LLMs of all flavors Salary and Benefits Competitive Salary range is $150k-200k+ base pending level of experience Stock Options - competitive package for early stage startup that is growing like crazy (0.1-0.3%) Medical, Vision, and Dental fully covered!
