The Automatic Welder operates semi-automatic and automatic welding equipment to efficiently join metal components, including plate, structural, and pipe assemblies. This role requires knowledge of automated welding systems, ensuring optimal machine settings, and maintaining weld quality in compliance with ABS and engineering standards. The Automatic Welder also performs routine equipment maintenance and adjusts parameters as needed to produce high-quality welds.Duties and ResponsibilitiesWear required PPE while operating automatic welding systems.Set up, program, and operate automatic welding equipment, including SAW (Submerged Arc Welding), FCAW-G (Flux-Cored Arc Welding-Gas Shielded), and GMAW (Gas Metal Arc Welding).Interpret blueprints, welding symbols, and specifications to configure welding processes.Monitor welding parameters to ensure weld consistency and quality.Perform pre- and post-weld inspections using weld gauges and measuring devices.Conduct routine maintenance and troubleshooting on welding equipment.Utilize joint preparation tools such as grinders and wire brushes.Work in confined spaces and at elevated heights as needed.Lift and transport materials up to 50 pounds.Identify and mitigate potential hazards to ensure workplace safety.Document weld parameters and production data for quality assurance.Complete assigned duties as required.Qualifications Must understand welding hazards, including arc flash and fume exposure.Ability to work with repetitive motion, including standing, bending, and lifting.Must be able to work in confined spaces and physically demanding positions.Working Conditions The employee must comply with established company safety rules and OSHA standards.The employee must be physically and medically qualified to wear required personal protective equipment as prescribed under OSHA standards.Must be able to hear warning signals and read and comprehend safety instructions, regulations, and warnings.Outdoor work environment with exposure to weather conditions.Work performed on uneven surfaces such as sand, limestone, and concrete.Exposure to high temperatures, noise, and confined workspaces.
