Habitat for Humanity ReStore is seeking a motivated and organized
Assistant Store Manager
at our Urbandale location to oversee daily operations, with a specific focus on managing the
Receiving and Back Dock
area.
As the Assistant Store Manager for the Back Dock, you will play a key role in the ReStore's success by supervising the donation intake process, managing inventory flow, and ensuring the back dock runs smoothly. You will work closely with donors, volunteers, and staff to support the ReStore's mission of funding affordable housing programs.
Core Responsibilities:
Donation Intake Oversight:
Manage the receiving and back dock areas, ensuring donations are accepted, sorted, and processed efficiently and safely.
Monitor pricing of materials and price materials to be sold.
Receive purchased inventory and help prevent inventory loss.
Constantly evaluate our donation receiving activities ensuring they run smoothly and efficiently, and we maximize our resources.
Audit trash, metal and appliance recycling to ensure we are being good stewards of our donated materials.
Customer and Donor Interaction:
Greet donors, assist with unloading donations, and provide excellent customer service.
Team Supervision:
Train, schedule, and supervise staff, volunteers, and community service workers assigned to the back dock area.
Motivate staff to achieve operational goals.
Safety Compliance:
Follow safe practices in all work activities to avoid injuries and accidents.
Maintain safety standards, ensure proper handling of items, and train staff on safe equipment use.
Ability to lift/push/pull up to 75 pounds and work in warehouse and outdoor environments.
Store Operations Support:
Collaborate with the Store Manager to meet sales goals, assist with merchandising, and act as the manager in their absence. Participate in the development and implementation of strategic goals.
Requirements
Experience:
2+ years in retail, warehouse supervision, or a related field
Track record of providing excellent customer service
Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and work in warehouse and outdoor environments
Leadership Skills:
Ability to lead and motivate a diverse team of staff and volunteers
Excellent communication skills and ability to convey clear, concise information to others, using verbal or other appropriate communication techniques
Organizational Skills:
Strong multitasking and problem-solving abilities in a fast-paced environment
Excellent organizational skills
Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
Skilled in general computer usage
