About The Role
The Machinist Fabricator's role is to set up and operate a variety of machine tools to produce precision parts and instruments. This person will conduct diverse activities related to machine shop operation and be able to work with mechanical structures, including trouble shooting and repairing in situ if required.

About The Role
The Machinist Fabricator's role is to set up and operate a variety of machine tools to produce precision parts and instruments. This person will conduct diverse activities related to machine shop operation and be able to work with mechanical structures, including trouble shooting and repairing in situ if required.
- Set up and operate a variety of machine tools to produce precision parts and instruments.
- Plan machining by studying work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, materials, specifications, orthographic drawings, reference planes, locations of surfaces, and machining parameters; interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T).
- Plan for task material and tools as needed, knowing available on hand inventory and sourcing as needed or adapting task to make do with available stock as needed.
- Selecting the proper set of machine tools as needed to complete the task in the most efficient accurate manner.
- Verify settings by measuring positions, first-run part, and sample workpieces; adhering to international standards.
- Maintain tools in a state of readiness for whatever task may come next, this includes cleaning sharpening, replacing any worn or damage tools that need attention.
- Maintain safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.
- Maintains equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs.
- Welding knowledge of TIG and MIG including proper weld prep and fixturing to minimize weld distortion.
- Discuss with other team members and company staff job progress, changeless or improvement opportunity with completing the required task.
- Provide daily and week status reports on projects.
- 2-5 years manual mill and manual lathe setup experience
- 2-5 years of CNC programming and setup (Anilam preferred)
- Experience with Machine tools and hand tools commonly found in fabrication shops including metrology tools.
- Ability to work with little or no supervision and in a team environment.
- Software Knowledge and experience with Master Cam, Office tools, Solidworks, Jira/ Confluence
- Education: High school diploma or equivalency
