Position Summary: This position serves as an analyst for the Bank's loans. Responsible for reviewing of income, cash flow analysis of loans on current and potential borrowers, analyzing the credit risk of each loan for the Bank, appraisals, and underwriting.
Reporting Relationship: Reports to the Credit Risk Officer
Major Accountabilities: Overall, Income, Credit Analyzing, and Underwriting
Overall
o Understand all loan documentation within Laser Pro; including but not limited to, Consumer, Commercial, Consumer Real Estate, Commercial Real Estate and Agricultural loans.
o Assists loan officers in performing approval assessments and analysis of financial condition and the risk associated with the transaction. This includes problem solving situations in the analyzing of the borrower.
o Review loan files to ensure needed quality and consistency by the lending personal on request as they pertain to Fair Lending and other regulations.
o Inform Credit Risk Officer and/or Sr. Lender of findings being misstated on application, narrative, or underwriting. This will save potential trouble for the Bank on the client base.
o Assists with on-going computerization/manual functions of the loan review process. Assisting the Credit Risk Officer/Loan Administrator in the non-originated and HMDA process.
o Understand the Bank's lending policy and procedures.
o Understand how to research and find requested information on Navigator to be able to assist in processing of loan underwriting.
o Use items found in audits and exams to assist Credit Risk Officer and/or Sr. Lender in updating procedures for the lending function to continue to grow the team's knowledge of overall lending functions at the Bank.
o Ensure the protection of the Bank's interests in matters of adequate documentation and adherence to loan policy and various laws and regulations.
Income
o Understand how to compute income based on the Bank's income - debt guidelines.
§ Prepare the cash flow analysis for each loan excluding agriculture loans done through the agriculture software.
o Analyze and calculate financial information such as tax returns, income statements, balance sheets, rent rolls, leases, appraisals, personal financial statements.
o Perform global cash flow analysis.
Credit Analyzing
o Understand how to analyze a credit report to make an approval or denial of credit through the Bank's income- debt guidelines. Understanding satisfactory credit and what meets the Bank standards.
o Use the data from the credit report to assist Lenders in the building of the total income and debt picture. Assisting the Lender in the completing meaningful and detailed of credit memos for the files.
Underwriting
o Understand how to underwrite appraisals to meet Bank standards. Completing the appraisal checklist and verifying that the adjustment to the comparables are in line. Establish guidelines/procedures for appraisals and update as needed. Ensure the appraisal meets back-office compliance measures. (Examples: HMDA, non-originated)
o Assist Credit Risk Officer to establish guidelines/procedures for extensions and update as needed.
o Assist Credit Risk Officer to develop and present training sessions to Lenders and Loan Assistants to enhance knowledge and skills of loan underwriting for the consumer and commercial portfolios.
Specific Duties :
•Establish a quarterly audit system to review lending and income policy and procedures. Would review a small sample size for loans that appear on the quarterly deviation reports.
•Maintain product knowledge through personal development, reading and educational programs offered by the Bank and outside sources.
•Complete required training classes.
•Performs other miscellaneous duties as assigned by Credit Risk Officer and/or Sr. Lender.
•May represent the Bank in various community functions to further enhance the Bank's image and develop additional business.
•Positive attitude, good work ethic, and exceptional customer service to be an example to Lending Personal. Able to adjust quickly to different work situations by remaining composed under pressure and stressful situations.
Work Environment
•This job operates in a clerical, office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
Physical Demands
•The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
•This is a largely sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a step stool as necessary.
