Director Of Campus Planning
The Director of Campus Planning works closely with the Assistant Vice President/University Architect and the Executive Director of Planning Design and Construction on all major projects on campus from deferred maintenance to renovations to new construction, factoring in the specifics of the master plan. The Planning team includes the Assistant VP/University Architect, Director of Campus Planning, Executive Director of PDC, PDC Engineers, the University Landscape Architect as well as the Interior Design Team. Working closely with Academic Affairs, tracking the planning for movement and/or growth of various departments, keeping everyone up to speed on the sometimes rapidly changing decisions, site, street, and parking modifications and leading master plan modifications with the team are integral responsibilities. Job Duties: Site Development/Master Planning:
Lead the development, execution, maintenance and evolution of current Campus Master Plan to reflect successive long range planning efforts and updates as improvements are developed. Guide efforts to define major land uses, building sites, utility locations, parking, transportation, open spaces and recreational spaces with an eye for community impact to achieve university goals in a sustainable fashion. Review campus projects for conformance with design guidelines & standards. Facilitate site selection & evaluation processes for new buildings and facilities. Support and serve on various University committees and assists with the development of presentations to attain design approvals. (30%) Space and Interiors Management & Planning:
Oversee space planning and management as well as interior design. Utilize expertise and data to support decisions regarding allocation of space, facility management, program planning, assessment and other needs. Work closely with Academic Affairs to provide information and recommendations related to space allocation and management in accordance with current master planning documents. Manage the day-to-day activities associated with processing, analyzing and/or evaluating space requests, assignments changes, allocations, space reporting and management. Responsible for oversight of campus landscape architects and civil engineers serving as project managers for master planning, district planning, site and landscape improvement projects and site developments. (30%) Capital Planning:
Lead the development of strategically integrated long-term capital plans inclusive of project programming, budgeting, scheduling and capital requests through a collaborative approach with University leadership and other key stakeholders. Prepare and delivers space and capital project reporting presentations to senior leadership, University officials, Board of Regents, State Division of Administration, various campus community members and other universities, state and federal agencies and outside organizations. Lead the revisions to the master plan through the Campus Planning Oversight Committee. (20%) Design Standards and Guidelines:
Provide input and insight into the implementation of design standards and guidelines consistent with desired university standards and planning initiatives, such as architectural, site and landscape and interiors design guidelines. Provide overall guidance regarding design standards and guidelines developed and updated by subject matter experts. Oversight of campus interior designers & coordinators serving as project managers for space management and planning, interior design, furniture specification and procurement and interior design review. Other duties as assigned. (20%) Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in architecture, urban planning, landscape architecture, engineering, interior design 7 years of experience in the area of project planning & design with significant construction/project management experience. Management experience leading a team of professionals. Minimum Certifications/Licenses: Architectural license or equivalent. Drivers License Preferred Qualifications: Master's degree in Architecture, urban planning, or other design/planning related field Considerable experience in campus planning, facilities design, development & oversight of capital projects, master planning and site development, space management and planning, space programming, design guidelines development/management and capital planning in a higher education setting, either through employment or as a consultant. Proficiency in computer aided design and related software. Special or Physical Qualifications:
This position is considered operational essential and may be asked to work during an official closure but is otherwise not required to report to the physical campus during a closure and whose absence does not present a risk to the safety, resources, and well-being of the campus per FASOP HR-01.
