Infection Preventionist / Quality and Accreditation / Full Time Responsible for the surveillance, analysis, interpretation, and reporting of hospital acquired infections (HAIs) and other infection related metrics; education of employees about infection prevention; and the development of hospital policies and procedures to ensure rigorous infection control and prevention standards that meet applicable recommendations, standards, and regulatory requirements. Demonstrates critical thinking/clinical reasoning to ensure the delivery of safe, quality, timely, compassionate, and cost-effective infection control/prevention care to the patient populations served by the hospital. Effectively communicates and collaborates both intra- and interdepartmentally with staff, management, physicians, administration, and other healthcare team members. Major Tasks, Duties and Responsibilities:

Serves as a resource for current standards of care, including auditing of patient medical records for abstracting of infection control/prevention related metrics. Integrates best practices in the delivery of care, related to infection control/prevention. Serves/acts as a resource to staff, physicians, and patients for infection related issues, including resolution of infection control problems and identification of new opportunities to improve service and reduce costs. Uses professional knowledge to develop and revise infection control/prevention guidelines for the delivery of care to patients. Provides assistance for clinical decisions related to infection control/prevention. Establishes, implements, and administers infection control/prevention goals, objectives, policies and procedures; conducts ongoing review of hospital policies, procedures, and guidelines, to identify discrepancies and implements revisions as necessary. Develops and enforces policies and procedures for the hospital related to compliance with regulatory and accreditation agencies, including OSHA, CDC, CMS, and other county, state, and federal agencies. Conducts on-going surveillance using CDC criteria, documentation, and investigation of HAIs through review of admission diagnoses, microbiology culture results, isolation precautions usage, patient records, post-discharge surveillance, and autopsy findings. Participates in investigations of communicable diseases and infection outbreaks utilizing the microbiology laboratory, county/state public health departments, and when necessary, in consultation with the CDC. Participates in the assessment, development, implementation, and evaluation of safe, quality, timely, compassionate, and cost-effective infection control/prevention related care delivered to the hospital's patient populations. Minimum Requirements:

Minimum Education: Graduate of a registered nursing program, bachelor's degree required. Master's degree in nursing, Public Health, or Healthcare Administration are preferred. Minimum Certification/Licensure: Current licensure to practice professional Nursing in the State of Ohio. Current American Heart Association (AHA) Healthcare Provider CPS (BLS) certification required. Current certification in Infection Control or Epidemiology required or obtained within one year of eligibility. Minimum Experience: Minimum of three years acute care nursing experience required. Minimum of one year infection control/prevention experience required. Benefit Summary:
