$28.73 - $37.35 Job Description Summary Entry level engineering paraprofessional. This position is for a full-time (40 hour per week) Engineer Tech I position within the Development Review Division of the Planning Services Department. The position reviews access permit applications submitted by the public and various industry professionals for the creation of new accesses or existing accesses not previously permitted, and from associated building and land use permit referrals. The process includes applying county code, researching, data entry, invoicing/fee collection, mapping, inspections, and follow-up with County employees and applicants as needed. Job Description Primary Duties - 80%: Provide customer service for permitting functions consistent with the Weld County Code, policies as well as State and Federal regulations. Review submitted access permit applications, research area and historical documents, perform data entry and issue permits. Review and provide referrals related to access items for all appropriate land use and building cases. Perform on-site inspections for compliance with safety criteria as outlined in the Weld County Code. Work and communicate (oral and written) effectively and professionally with other staff, outside agencies, construction contractors, and the public. Secondary Duties - 10%: Attend meetings and/or hearings, as required, to assist in communicating the criteria set forth in the Weld County Code as related to the Road Access Policy. Other Duties as Required - 10%: Follow policies and procedures, the Weld County Code of Conduct and adhere to strict confidentiality guidelines and appropriate release of information outlined in both. Required Qualifications Required Education High School Diploma/GED Preferred Experience Oral and written Spanish language use preferred. Skills and Abilities Ability to work independently and in a team environment. Licenses and Certifications DL NUMBER - Driver License, Valid and in State (Upon Hire Required) Candidate must pass substance screening prior to employment start date. This position is also subject to random substance screenings. (Required) This position is non-exempt from the minimum wage and overtime requirements of the Fair Labor Standards Act and is therefore eligible for overtime pay.
