Ground Penetrating Radar Technician
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for operating GPR equipment to detect and map subsurface features such as utilities, voids, rebar, and other anomalies. This role involves fieldwork, data interpretation, and reporting, often in diverse environments and under varying weather conditions. Responsibilities
Operate GPR and related geophysical equipment to conduct subsurface investigations. Interpret GPR data and generate accurate field sketches, CAD drawings, or reports. Perform utility locating, concrete scanning, and subsurface mapping. Maintain and calibrate equipment to ensure optimal performance. Communicate findings clearly to clients, engineers, and project managers. Follow safety protocols and ensure compliance with company and industry standards. Travel to job sites as required, sometimes on short notice. Essential Skills
High school diploma or equivalent. 1+ years of experience with GPR or utility locating. Familiarity with GPR software (e.g., GSSI RADAN, IDS, Mala). Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and site plans. Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills. Valid driver's license and clean driving record. Additional Skills & Qualifications
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Geophysics, Engineering, Surveying, or related field. OSHA 10/30 certification. Experience with AutoCAD or GIS software. NULCA or other industry certifications. Work Environment
The position involves outdoor fieldwork in various weather conditions and requires physical demands such as walking, lifting equipment up to 50 lbs, and standing for extended periods. Occasional overnight travel may be required. The use of technologies such as spectrum analyzers, radar, signal generators, and GPR systems like SIR 4000 and GSSIR 4000 is essential. The work is conducted outside. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $45.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
