Reporting to the Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for generating, designing, validating, and implementing Value Analysis Value Engineering (VAVE) solutions for reliability and cost value improvements. If you are someone who has solid hands-on problem-solving skills, especially experience with industrial coding equipment and is passionate about driving cross-functional project teams to deliver results on time and meet cost targets, this is a unique opportunity for you! This role is part of the Videojet's R&D Engineering function and will be located in our Wood Dale, IL, office. This role will require 10% travel. In this role, a typical day will look like: Providing innovative ideas and technical solutions to improve product cost, reliability, and performance. Designing and evaluating cost-effective product changes to address obsolescence, quality, or safety issues on existing product lines. Developing Test Plans to validate design changes and solutions, and verifying designs using lab testing, analysis, and simulation tools. Managing projects, including creating timelines, defining deliverables, and tracking progress with cross-functional teams. Acting as a technical leader by collaborating with regulatory, manufacturing, procurement, quality, tech support, and product management teams. Coordinating with outside suppliers to ensure timely and effective delivery of solutions to production. Applying VTI Engineering Change Order (ECO) processes and tools to ensure robust documentation and implementation of changes. The essential requirements of the job include: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field; master's degree a plus. 25 years of engineering experience in product development or product maintenance of line. 25 years of experience working with small-to-medium electromechanical industrial equipment, or similar line of products. Proficiency with 3D/2D design tools (SolidWorks or equivalent). Demonstrated skills in project management, including product change control, root cause analysis, and product development lifecycle. It would be nice if you also possess: Experience with components such as gear pumps, diaphragm pumps, cooling fans, and solenoid valves, highly desired. Familiarity with injection-molded plastic part design and sheet metal fabrication. Knowledge of Daily Management and Visual Management principles. Ability to influence and collaborate effectively with cross-functional partners. Strong problem-solving mindset and the initiative to bring forward new ideas. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a focus on clarity and teamwork.
