Public Works Fleet Operations Manager
Performs highly responsible management and administrative work in directing and coordinating the fleet maintenance operations of the City. Work is reviewed through reports, for the completion of goals and objectives, and adherence to established policies and procedures. Work is performed under the general administrative direction of the Public Works Director. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Plans, evaluates, and directs the fleet maintenance operations policies, programs and operations. Makes procedural and operational recommendations to the City's administration. Develops and maintains division budget and financial management activities, develops operational work plans with goals and objectives for area of responsibility. Directs, coordinates and supervises the technical and administrative activities of the fleet maintenance operations. Plans and coordinates the flow of work within the garage. Makes general assignments to subordinates, supervisors and mechanics. Supervises activities through work plans, reports, conferences, inspections and road tests. Supervises the requisitioning of repair parts, fuel, lubricants, supplies and equipment required in the maintenance and garage operations. Demonstrates ability to direct and supervise the work of mechanics and assistants including both skilled and unskilled crafts while keeping general records and repair records of garage operations. Assists in preparation for, response to, and recovery from, the impacts of a wide variety of disasters or emergency situations and may be temporarily assigned to other duties, locations, and shifts. Meets attendance requirements. Promotes positive customer service environment internally and externally. Performs other job related functions as assigned Supervisory Responsibilities: Manages subordinate staff. Is responsible for overall direction, coordination and evaluation of assigned personnel. Education and/or Experience: Bachelor's degree in Public Administration, Business Administration or a closely related field supplemented by seven years progressively responsible experience in all phases of fleet management or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
