Database Administrator
This Database Administrator position works out of the Minneapolis, MN location in the Medical Devices Digital Solutions organization. The Database Administrator position is responsible for ensuring data availability, integrity, and security. This role involves performing routine database administration tasks such as installing, configuring, and upgrading databases and their software across various platforms, including Intersystem Iris. The administrator conducts database capacity planning, proactively monitors and tunes performance, executes security procedures, and manages backup and recovery processes. Additionally, the position provides database support to application development teams and participates in the deployment of new products or features to enhance system capabilities. What You'll Work On: Define requirements and associated designs for database systems. Work closely with application development team to ensure successful deployment and performance of database applications. Learn and take management and support responsibilities for application database platforms. Consult with developers and clients to determine the impact of new and revised processes on the overall architecture of systems. Facilitate, monitor, and implement solutions around data replication for multiple databases. Implement advanced monitoring and alerting solutions for database systems. Maintain appropriate level system documentation. Maintain and ensure database consistency, integrity, security, and auditing in accordance with regulatory and compliance requirements. Ensure the implementation of roadmaps and assignments as defined by management. Ensure data recovery, integrity, and space requirements of databases through formulations and monitoring of policies, procedures, and standards. Plan and monitor assigned projects and communicate project progress. Manage the development, testing, and implementation of database systems to meet database capacity standards and sizing objectives. Provide consultation on database-related issues. Support continuous process improvement and innovation. Oversee project intake for resource allocations. Assist in evaluating new requirements and recommend new processes and standards. Troubleshoot and solve problems with existing systems quickly and completely. Diagnose problems, conduct impact analysis, and implement solutions to prevent future issues. Provide 24x7 on-call support as part of rotating team coverage. Participate in the Information Technology strategic planning process as requested. Collaborate with all interested parties, gather requirements, and provide recommendations for database standards and architectural design. Support all Company initiatives as identified by management and in support of Quality Management Systems (QMS), Environmental Management Systems (EMS), and other regulatory requirements. Comply with U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations, other regulatory requirements, Company policies, operating procedures, processes, and task assignments. Maintain positive and cooperative communications and collaboration with all levels of employees, customers, contractors, and vendors. Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or equivalent degree with knowledge of database concepts or an equivalent combination of education and work experience. 1-2 years of experience in large enterprise database environments and solution delivery methodologies. Comprehensive database skills, spreadsheet experience, and analytical expertise are required. Experience working in a SOX regulated environment. Experience with transactional and/or data warehouse practices. Experience in Database Security industry. Ability to architect the database based on user requirements. Experience working in a broader enterprise/cross-division business unit model preferred. Ability to work in a highly matrixed and geographically diverse business environment. Ability to work within a team and as an individual contributor in a fast-paced, changing environment. Ability to leverage and/or engage others to accomplish projects. Strong verbal and written communications with ability to effectively communicate at multiple levels in the organization. Multitasks, prioritizes, and meets deadlines in a timely manner. Strong organizational and follow-up skills, as well as attention to detail. Ability to travel approximately 10%, including internationally. SQL Qualifications: Knowledge of programming skills such as in T-SQL, PowerShell, VBScript, etc. Knowledge of SQL Server native HA (High Availability) and Disaster Recovery (DR) technologies. Knowledge of Windows Operating System (OS) and clustering component. Experience in database performance tuning and optimization, using native or third-party monitoring and troubleshooting tools.
