Penner-Ash Wine Cellars Seasonal Position
Penner-Ash Wine Cellars is seeking motivated individuals to be involved in all aspects of the winemaking process. We work with upwards of twenty vineyards, all sustainably farmed, in the Northern Willamette Valley. With an intense focus on making small batch, vineyard designated Pinot noirs, we bring in around 300 tons per year, the vast majority of which is Pinot noir, with the balance being Chardonnay, Riesling, and Viognier. Due to the nature of our small team, you will be exposed to all facets of the winemaking process. Duties include, but are not limited to, bottling, vineyard sampling, processing, cleaning, lots of cap management, pressing, and barreling down, just to name a few. What we provide: harvest lunches, inside jokes, harvest swag, ample learning opportunities, a safe and fun working environment, and the opportunity to work with some of the highest regarded fruit in the Willamette Valley. Start and end date will depend on the growing season, we plan to start work around the end of August and end work in late October/early November. What you provide: a sense of humor and good attitude, the ability to work well independently as well as in a team, a strong work ethic, the ability to follow work orders, both written and verbal, an appreciation for safety, strong communication skills, keen attention to detail, a sense of urgency, and a passion for wine. End of Season Bonus: You will have the opportunity to earn an end of season bonus of $500.00 contingent upon attendance, effort, and working through the assignment end date listed above. Forklifting
unloading and loading fruit, safely driving barrels Harvest duties
sorting, destemming, pressing, etc. Additions
yeast, acid, nutrients, etc. Barrel work
cleaning, steaming, filling, emptying, and topping Tank work - racking, transferring/blending both juice and wine Sampling
obtain grape, juice, and/or wine samples Bottling Communicate effectively with supervisor and other staff Cleaning of both equipment and facility Other duties as assigned The base pay for this role ranges from $18.50 - $23.00 per hour. Compensation will be determined by candidate experience, skills, and location.
