Pool Mechanic I

The Ocean Reef Club is seeking a Pool Mechanic I to join our team. This role involves maintaining the balance of chemicals, cleanliness, and maintenance of pools and equipment. The position requires daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance of chemical balance to ensure a healthy and clean pool. Responsibilities include inspecting guestrooms, public space, and back of the house areas to repair or replace light bulbs, lamps, switches, outlets, exit lights, faucets, toilets, hardware, filters, paint, furniture, wall covering, caulking, grouting, or other miscellaneous repairs. Basic electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and mechanical experience are used frequently on the job. The individual must have experience in using basic hand and power tools and ability to stoop, kneel, grasp, lift, push, and pull weights up to 80 pounds, climb ladders up to 30 feet high, and reach in all directions, often times overhead. The position will require a combination of these functions, with the percentage of time performing each function to be determined by the supervisor based upon the particular requirements of the club. Essential duties and responsibilities include: Cleaning assigned facilities (e.g. swimming pool, pool deck, equipment areas, and filter systems, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining a sanitary and safe condition. Maintaining pool, including proper chemical and PH rate, for the purpose of complying with mandated safety and health requirements for pool water purity and balance. Keeping detailed records in English for the purpose of providing an up-to-date reference and ensuring compliance with mandated requirements. Having knowledge in the usage of chemicals for the purpose of proper handling. Stocking chemicals, supplies, and equipment for the purpose of maintaining adequate quantities and security of items. Having considerable knowledge of pool equipment including repair, maintenance, electrical, and plumbing. Monitoring, maintaining, repairing, and carrying out the preventive maintenance program on the clubs pool system. Monitoring and testing pool chemicals (at least 3 times daily). Grasping, lifting, and/or carrying supplies and equipment weighing up to 100 lbs. Setting up and/or moving equipment for the purpose of ensuring availability for special events, etc. Monitoring pool for cracks, leaks, and maintenance repair. Performing scheduled and non-scheduled maintenance on all related pool issues. Visually identifying and troubleshooting problems and making repairs as needed. Creating exceptional experiences by taking ownership, showing respect, and caring for the needs of members, guests, and coworkers by practicing the Ocean Reef Club Promises. Maintaining regular attendance; scheduling time off in advance, not taking unscheduled time off due to calling outs, arriving late, and leaving early. Presenting a clean, neat, and tasteful appearance; adhering to the Personal Appearance Policy in the Ocean Reef Club Associate Handbook. Displaying creativity, loyalty, dependability, and good judgment. Keeping detailed records in English as required for daily logs, work orders, billing, and preventive maintenance logs. Having knowledge of general safe working practices. Reporting major repairs, items which cannot be repaired, and potential problems to the supervisor for further action. The position requires resolve a number of problems requiring initiative and good judgment, basic mechanical aptitude for operation and repair of club equipment, and skilled use of related tools, including both hand and electric tools. The individual must also drive Ocean Reef Club vehicles in a safe manner according to the Ocean Reef Club Associate Handbook and maintain assigned vehicle, equipment, and tools for the purpose of ensuring availability in safe operating condition. Additionally, the individual must transport a variety of tools, equipment, and supplies for the purpose of ensuring the availability of materials required at the job site. The position requires tasks requiring bending, stooping, and kneeling, pushing and pulling objects or material weighing up to 80 pounds, and climbing stairs and ladders, working at heights up to approximately 30 feet for extended periods of time, with ability to reach, often overhead. The individual must also grasp, lift, or carry items weighing up to 50 pounds, occasionally waist high. The individual must move and work throughout the club for the duration of the shift and work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the club (up to and including first, second, third, or a combination of shifts and days) due to the cyclical nature of the club business. The individual must perform other duties and special projects assigned by supervisors, such as assisting other trades, due to the nature of the business. Education and/or experience equivalent to graduation from high school, or any other combination of education, training, or experience of at least three years that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the duties of the position is required. The individual must be able to comprehend the English language and demonstrate the ability to express and exchange ideas through oral and written communication and convey detailed and/or important instructions accurately, loudly and/or quickly. Basic arithmetic skills are required. The individual must be able to set priorities and possess the ability to meet deadlines and exercise initiative within department guidelines. The individual must be an Aquatic Facility Operator, AFO, CPO certified pool operator. A valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record are required. Associates with irregular attendance will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment. Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry and report deadlines, the associate may be required to work varying schedules to meet the business needs of the Club and report deadlines. Proper grooming is required by all associates and is described in detail in the Associates Handbook. Associates should review this policy and make sure that at all times they present themselves for shifts looking clean, neat, and professional. As a condition of employment, all associates agree to fully comply with Ocean Reef Club rules and regulations for the safe and efficient operation of Club facilities. Associates who violate Club rules and regulations will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.
