Seasonal/Pt Water & Pressurized Irrigation Maintenance Technician

This exciting seasonal/PT position offers the chance to gain valuable experience in municipal utility maintenance. Under the direction of our Water and Pressurized Irrigation Superintendents, you'll play a crucial role in maintaining, servicing, and repairing our city's drinking water and pressurized irrigation systems and facilities. What You'll Do
System Maintenance & Repair: Assist Water Operators with the installation, maintenance, and repair of water service connections, water lines, meters, fire hydrants, and main breaks.
Heavy Equipment Operation: Operate various equipment such as dump trucks, backhoes, and compactors.
Troubleshooting & Problem Solving: Locate and repair water line leaks, thaw frozen lines, and identify shut-off valves.
Infrastructure Support: Tear out and repair curb, gutter, and street sections as needed for line repairs; build and adjust meter boxes.
Facility Upkeep: Clean and maintain storage tanks, ponds, pump houses, and grounds, including weed abatement.
Data Collection: Utilize GIS software and GPS equipment to collect data points for tracking city utility assets.
Meter Management: Read residential and commercial water meters, perform visual checks for tampering, and conduct field and shop repairs on meters.
Team Collaboration: Work effectively with crew members, respond to verbal and written assignments, and assist with other duties as directed.
Work Schedule & Status
This is a seasonal position working up to 6 months from the hire date, or a part-time position working up to 1500 hours annually. Standard Hours: Monday - Thursday, 7:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.
Student-Friendly Hours: After-school hours are available for high school/college students until summer break begins.

Must hold a valid Utah Driver's License.
Ability to provide a copy of your current driving record and pass a pre-employment background check.
Preference given to candidates with current or previous employment with Highland City.
Work Environment
This position is performed in an outdoor setting and is subject to seasonal weather conditions, including exposure to dust, fumes, dampness, cold, heat, and noise. Tasks require a variety of physical activities, generally involving muscular strain such as walking, standing, stooping, sitting, reaching, and lifting.
