Water Production - Plant Operator I
The Water Production Plant Operator role I involves monitoring, regulating, and adjusting equipment to ensure the efficient and safe treatment of water before discharge. The operator will work within established guidelines to maintain compliance with regulatory standards and ensure the proper functioning of all treatment processes. Qualifications: High School Diploma/GED required. Grade "D" Water Operator License issued by the Texas Commission of Environmental Quality (TCEQ) or ability to obtain within 6 months of eligibility. Ability to obtain a class C Water Operator License is required within nine (9) months of eligibility. Must possess a valid Driver's License at time of placement. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of Water Production processes, including operational principles, equipment functionality, and regulatory requirements. Skill in using computer systems and software for data analysis, reporting, and record-keeping related to Water Production operations. Skill in conducting inspections, recording operational data, and maintaining accurate logs and reports to ensure compliance with regulations and plant performance standards. Skill in verbal and written communication to effectively collaborate with team members, contractors, and regulatory agencies. Ability to work effectively in a team environment, fostering cooperation and coordination among staff. Ability to assess challenges, analyze data, and implement solutions to enhance plant efficiency and performance. Ability to work flexible schedules, including responding promptly to emergency situations as needed. Major Duties: This is an entry-level position. The employee performs a range of water production activities under the direction of a certified Water Production operator. Operate and maintain equipment and systems for the treatment of water within the city's facilities. Monitor and adjust treatment processes to ensure efficient and effective operation. Conduct regular inspections and preventive maintenance on machinery and treatment systems. Analyze data from various instruments and perform laboratory tests to assess water quality. Implement corrective measures and troubleshoot equipment malfunctions as needed. Maintain accurate records, reports, and logs related to plant operations and regulatory compliance. Collaborate with team members and management to improve plant efficiency and effectiveness. Adhere strictly to safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.
