Maintenance Mechanic
The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and continuous improvement of all mechanical systems, equipment, and infrastructure across the tortilla production facility. This role ensures the reliable operation of equipment critical to the manufacturing process, with an emphasis on minimizing downtime and supporting total productive maintenance (TPM) initiatives. Responsibilities
Perform mechanical repairs on production lines, including ovens, presses, proofers, stackers, and packaging equipment. Conduct scheduled preventative maintenance (PM) in accordance with CMMS and TPM guidelines. Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical issues, including chains, belts, gears, shafts, bearings, hydraulic and pneumatic systems. Collaborate with electricians and controls techs to resolve issues involving PLCs, HMI interfaces, and sensor feedback affecting mechanical performance. Adjust, align, and calibrate equipment to ensure optimal performance, minimizing waste and enhancing product quality. Support root cause failure analysis and reliability improvement projects in coordination with the Reliability Engineer. Assist in equipment installations, line modifications, and facility upgrades. Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, downtime, parts used, and time spent in SAP. Ensure all work complies with OSHA, GMP, and food safety regulations. Maintain a clean and safe work environment, including proper lockout/tagout procedures and confined space awareness. Essential Skills
Proficiency in industrial maintenance, including PLC troubleshooting, pneumatics, and hydraulics. Ability to wire a 3-phase motor. Experience in mechanical repairs and preventative maintenance. Strong troubleshooting skills in electrical and mechanical systems. Knowledge of maintenance repair techniques and preventive maintenance procedures. Must speak and read Spanish. Experience in a food and beverage manufacturing environment is advantageous. Must be electrically inclined with the ability to troubleshoot PLCs. Comfortable working night shifts and adhering to a 2,2,3 schedule from 6 PM to 6 AM. Work Environment and Shift
This role is based in a high-speed tortilla production facility. The environment includes exposure to moving machinery, electrical panels, food ingredients, cleaning chemicals, and temperature variations between the process areas and exterior. 2,2,3 Schedule 6 PM - 6 AM for both mechanics / The candidate will spend the first 2 months training on night shift (5:45 PM - 3:30 AM) M-F and then transition to their 223 schedule.
