Peer Technician Position

The position of Peer Technician is responsible for the engagement and promotion of recovery through the delivery of care support using a peer recovery-based approach. Experience in substance abuse or behavioral health preferred but not required. Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent work experience. Preferred Certified Addiction Peer Recovery Coach and Valid Driver's License. Demonstrated requisite education and work experience consistent with and necessary to carry out the Mission and leadership philosophy of Turning Point. Must possess sound clinical skills, effective interpersonal skills, technical and computer skills, and excellent written communication skills. Non-Exempt Reports To: Clinical Supervisor The following functions describe the essential duties of this role. Individuals in this role may not perform all of these duties, or may perform additional, related duties not listed here. Assist in supervision of client activities and be aware of client whereabouts at all times, including breaks and internal and external activities. Attend all mandatory trainings. Act as liaison for the clients to the clinical staff, relating needs and requests. Provide support and assistance to the clinical and administrative staff when needed. Assist the clinical staff by providing ongoing recovery support. Ensure and monitor the safety, upkeep and maintenance of the treatment facility. Report all daily events through the systems of reporting. Keep neat, written logs on clients' activities. Drug test clients at admission, upon suspicion or upon clinical request. Report all significant client questions, concerns and complaints to the attention of the appropriate clinical and/or administrative staff at Turning Point SOC. Bring reports of all incidents to the attention of the Clinical Team for processing. Remind, redirect, reprimand and report clients that break rules or regulations according to the guidelines of Turning Point SOC. Engage clients in therapeutic activities, as appropriate. Provide a brief overview of the medication assisted recovery program in regard to program rules, procedure, and services, with each new client. Maintain order and ensure compliance with rules and regulations; ensures that clients conduct themselves in an orderly manner. Monitor and document clients for signs of medical distress and/or behavioral conduct on an on-going basis. Provide appropriate support and structure for clients in dealing with their recovery, interacts continually with clients. Job Type: Full-Time Physical Setting: Clinic People with a criminal record are encouraged to apply. Knowledge of applicable ICAADA Peer Code of Ethics and CAPRC Standards of Practice preferred. Has working knowledge of Harm Reduction practices and material Preferred experience in the mental health/addiction behavioral health field. Work Location: In person
