Training Specialist Advisor - APY-9 Radar / E-2D Advanced Hawkeye Trainer
We are seeking an experienced, highly skilled Master Level Instructor to join our team in support of the Aegis Training and Readiness Center (ATRC) in Dahlgren, Virginia. The ideal candidate will deliver comprehensive classroom and tactical lab training for Fleet sailors, focusing on the APY-9 Radar system and its integration with the E-2D Advanced Hawkeye, Cooperative Engagement Capability (CEC), and Integrated Fire Control (IFC) systems. This role requires deep operational knowledge and instructional expertise to train Cruiser (CG) and Destroyer (DDG) sailors in technical operations and tactical employment, while supporting current and future curriculum development aligned with U.S. Navy training standards. How A Training Specialist Advisor Will Make An Impact Deliver advanced instruction on APY-9 Radar and E-2D Advanced Hawkeye system operations and integration with Aegis Combat System. Provide classroom and hands-on lab instruction on Air Intercept Control, CEC, IFC capabilities, and their role in tactical operations. Lead instruction in shipboard Combat Information Center Officer (CICO) roles and tactical employment techniques. Plan, brief, evaluate, and debrief classroom sessions and tactical exercises based on current Navy doctrine, TTPs, and operational needs. Review and revise curriculum, lesson plans, and instructor guides; support NAVEDTRA 135 requirements. Assess student performance and provide detailed evaluations and improvement recommendations. Support training gap analyses, course reviews, and curriculum updates to improve course effectiveness. Maintain documentation of training activities, student progress, and program assessments. Stay up to date with emerging technologies and tactical systems relevant to Fleet operations. What You'll Need To Succeed Bachelor's Degree
in a related technical discipline, or equivalent combination of education and relevant military experience. Minimum
8 years of operational experience
as an APY-9 Radar Operator, Mission Commander, ICICO, or Weapons and Tactics Instructor. Minimum
1 year of instructor experience
in a Navy training environment, including curriculum development, student evaluation, and instructional design. Demonstrated ability to instruct officer-level personnel on integrated combat systems in a dynamic Fleet training environment. Preferred Qualifications: Qualification as a
Weapons and Tactics Instructor (WTI)
or
Master/Afloat Training Specialist . Experience with
CSCS, TACTRAGRU
, or
ATG
training pipelines. Familiarity with simulation and training systems for advanced CIC and radar operations. Additional Requirements: Must be physically able to instruct for extended periods while standing. Ability to travel up to 10% of the time. U.S. citizenship and eligibility for a DoD security clearance.
