Review physician's order and obtains pertinent medical information to identify reason for exam. Screens patients for contraindications prior to entering magnetic field. Explains procedure to patient and administers intravenous contrast as required. Selects appropriate pad and coil and positions patient. May assist physician with biopsy and aspiration procedures, practicing sterile technique as required. Sets up sterile trays with all supplies and instruments required for procedures. Selects desired protocol and logs factors used. Examines images following initial sequence and selects location parameters for next scan. Organizes images, films the exam and transfers to PACS system. Enters patient charges into computer system. Performs minor maintenance and repair of MRI equipment. Refers other problems to Lead MRI Technologist, Supervisor or Imaging Manager. Assists in training and orienting personnel. Practices proper safety techniques in accordance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures. Immediately reports any mechanical or electrical equipment malfunctions, unsafe conditions, or employee/patient/visitor injury-accident to Manager. Qualifications
Graduate of an accredited school of Radiologic Technology or Accredited Magnetic Resonance Imaging Program. Registered Radiologic Technologist (RT) with one (1) year of experience in diagnostic radiology or ARMRIT (MR) registry. or ARRT (MR) only registry in lieu of ARRT (RT) certification and diagnostic radiology experience.
