Lightspeed LA is looking for a highly creative Senior Ambient Designer who has a passion for building AAA open world content. This role is responsible for creating gameplay content, scenarios, characters, and systems that enrich the open world gameplay experience. As a Senior Ambient Designer, you will collaborate with Art, Design, Narrative, and Tech to bring open world experiences to life. Responsibilities: Craft compelling activities that bolster the variety of open world gameplay experiences Design and implement fully realized ambient character behaviors and interactions that bring depth, texture, and believability to a living, breathing world Craft ambient content that creates memorable storytelling moments in a wide emotional range, from tragic to heartfelt, from frightening to cathartic, from thrilling to somber. Help drive the vision for world spaces, ecologies, and theming of game systems Evaluate and implement story concepts, step by step gameplay, ecosystems, characters, cinematics, and dialog Partner closely with other disciplines to ensure that content complements narrative, art, technical and design decisions Who We Look For

Strong critical thinking and analytical skills Demonstrate versatile game design skills including documentation, planning, tuning, pacing, rewards, and scripting Experience in establishing high-level ecologies, ecosystems, factions, and AI behavior Experience with modern game engines and visual scripting (Unreal, Unity, etc.) A strong technical implementation background Location State(s): US-California-Irvine The expected base pay range for this position in the location(s) listed above is $93,100.00 to $216,700.00 per year. Actual pay may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Employees hired for this position may be eligible for a sign on payment, relocation package, and restricted stock units, which will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis. Subject to the terms and conditions of the plans in effect, hired applicants are also eligible for medical, dental, vision, life and disability benefits, and participation in the Company's 401(k) plan. The Employee is also eligible for up to 15 to 25 days of vacation per year (depending on the employee's tenure), up to 13 days of holidays throughout the calendar year, and up to 10 days of paid sick leave per year. Your benefits may be adjusted to reflect your location, employment status, duration of employment with the company, and position level. Benefits may also be pro-rated for those who start working during the calendar year.
