Solid Waste Driver/Operator
Lake County Solid Waste is accepting applications for: Driver / Operator Qualifications: Must possess a valid Class B CDL, with an acceptable driving record and a minimum of 1 year of CDL driving experience in winter conditions. Class A CDL is preferred. If you have a valid Class B CDL, you will be required to obtain a Class A by the end of your probationary period. Must possess the ability to operate large trucks and heavy equipment safely and skillfully; be able to conduct minor repair and maintenance of trucks and equipment, work outdoors in extreme weather and temperatures, and work well with the public and coworkers; and must be knowledgeable of all federal, state, and local laws pertaining to the operation of commercial motor vehicles. Must be able to lift 80lbs. Roll-off and pup trailer experience is preferred. Duties: Drive transfer truck to container sites; set empty containers; consolidate loaded containers; retrieve loaded containers; deliver and unload containers; clean area around container site, as well as truck and trailer; perform minor maintenance on equipment; operate heavy equipment; move and compact waste; perform landfill duties, including working at the ticket shack; and perform other duties as assigned. Hours/Days: Full-time - Varied schedule - Requires weekends. Wage: $25.83/hourly. This is a union covered position. Benefits: Lake County offers excellent benefits!
