Data Analyst

The New York City Department of Investigation ("DOI") is one of the oldest law enforcement agencies in the country; its mission is to combat municipal corruption. DOI serves the people of New York City by acting as an independent and nonpartisan watchdog for New York City government, city agencies, and city employees, vendors with City contracts, individuals and entities that receive City funds. DOI is seeking a highly skilled and motivated data analyst to join its Data Analytics Unit (DAU), which supports criminal and policy-driven investigations across all DOI squads. The DAU is a tech-forward, collaborative environment, where analytical rigor, data fluency, and critical thinking are vital to uncovering waste, fraud, and abuse. As a Data Analyst, you will manage and analyze large, disparate data sets to develop investigative leads, support ongoing investigations, and assist in legal proceedings. You will prepare and present clear, actionable findings for investigators and decision-makers. Key Responsibilities: Develop and enhance practices for identifying patterns and trends related to fraud, waste and abuse. Assist with the development of analytical models and tools to improve investigative outcomes. Acquire, clean, and manage data from various internal and external sources. Work collaboratively with DOI investigators to generate investigative leads, create reports, and interpret data. Collaborate closely with DOI attorneys, auditors, fellow analysts, and investigators, as well as prosecutors and local law enforcement, agencies leadership, and other stakeholders, on investigative matters as well as special projects relating to data. If selected, the candidate will be fingerprinted and undergo a background investigation. In addition, because the position has a law enforcement and/or investigative function, the candidate's consumer credit history will be reviewed during the background investigation, as permitted by NYC Administrative Code 8-107(24)(b)(2)(A). To apply, go to https://a127-jobs.nyc.gov and search for the specific Job ID #724670.

Please do not email, mail, or fax your resume to DOI directly. Submissions of resumes do not guarantee an interview. Due to the high volume of resumes DOI receives for positions, only selected candidates will be contacted. Appointments are subject to Office of Management & Budget approval for budgeted headcount.
