Senior Division Secretary

The Los Angeles County Office of Education is looking for attentive, customer-focused individuals to join the Employee Assistance Service for Education (EASE) team. A Senior Division Secretary performs a variety of secretarial duties including keyboarding, formatting, editing documents, filing, answering telephones, operating office equipment, and organizing, coordinating, and facilitating division activities and communications in support of a Director II, Director III, Administrator, or Cabinet-level administrator with responsibility for a major division or function; provide work direction, guidance, and training to subordinate clerical and secretarial personnel as assigned. The well-qualified candidate will possess the following: Organization, objectives, and operation of assigned program or function Modern office practices, procedures, and equipment Applicable rules, regulations, policies, and procedures for assigned functional area Electronic document management systems Filing and record-keeping techniques and systems Commercial multiline telephone system, including Zoom phones English grammar, spelling, punctuation, and vocabulary Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint Required education and experience: Graduation from high school or equivalent. Three years of secretarial experience including one year in a lead capacity, or one year as a LACOE Division Secretary, or two years as a LACOE Secretary/School Administrative Secretary. Additional requirements: Some positions may require the ability to take dictation at 90 words per minute and transcribe accurately for which a 2.75% stipend is added to the base salary. A valid California driver's license and the availability of private transportation or the ability to obtain transportation between job sites may be required. Hybrid remote schedules may be available. Selection process: Candidates who meet the minimum requirements above will be invited to participate in an examination that may consist of a written exam, performance exam, and a structured interview.
