Education Required: High School Diploma or equivalent.
Experience Required: Phlebotomy experience or certification.
Other Skills/Knowledge Required: For safety and quality reasons, must be able to read, write and communicate effectively in English with patients, visitors and fellow members of the hospital team
Job Functions
Registers patients. Enters physician orders. Prepares the patient, verifies identification and physician orders, draws blood with attention to patient comfort, and labels specimen accurately with essential information. Receives, and packs specimens, expediting the delivery process for lab processing. Documents receipt of specimens in electronic medical record system. Runs daily reports and addresses issues as pertinent. Perform housekeeping, handle hazardous waste and keep laboratory area fully stocked. Communicates with Phlebotomy management as needed.
