WAN Engineer Subject Matter Expert (SME)

We are seeking a Wide Area Network (WAN) Engineer Subject Matter Expert (SME) with experience working with Software Defined Networking (SDN). You will develop, operate, and maintain complex technology systems using engineering principles, theories, and concepts, and evolve them with advanced technology solutions on-site in the San Diego, CA area. Pay Range: $100,000 to $180,000, depending on experience and education. You Will: Develop network topologies and templates from system requirements. Design and implement software-defined networking solutions. Perform systems engineering services in all phases of a project life cycle. Develop and maintain technical system documentation related to system configuration, troubleshooting, and traceability. Develop network templates and IP plans. Develop SDN solutions across software and hardware to solve problems and implement enhancements. Contribute to team efforts by accomplishing related taskings as needed. You Have: U.S. Citizenship. A Department of Defense (DoD) "Secret" level Security Clearance or be able to obtain an interim clearance prior to hire date. BS degree in STEM field, or 6 years experience supporting engineering of DoD systems. 4+ years experience engineering networks for DoD. 3+ years experience developing technical documentation. Proven track record of performance in client facing roles that require engagement and relationship building with stakeholders across Navy programs, the DoD, or other federal agencies. In-depth knowledge of Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE) and other Cisco SDN components. Proficiency in network security principles and access control policies to include multicast. Experience with network configuration for Cisco and Palo Alto switches, routers, and firewalls. Experience in troubleshooting and restoring network and system outages. Experience with SDN Technologies and vendors, including SD-WAN, NSX-T, Cisco, Juniper, and open-source solutions. Experience in engineering and administering WAN solutions. Experience in Quality of Service (QoS) technology engineering. Experience with MS Visio software. Certifications: AIT Level II Security Certification (CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, Security+ CE, or SCCP) Cisco CCNA, or VMware VCP, or Palo Alto certification. We'd Be Impressed If You Had: Experience supporting Navy Tactical Networks. Experience with RF communications, specifically MILSATCOM or COMSATCOM technologies. Experience with Network Automation in Python, Ansible, NETCONF, and/or RESTCONF. Experience modeling network configuration in JSON, YAML, or YANG. Experience developing and maturing complex, collaborative networking projects and working autonomously to move network development forward. Experience leveraging NetDevOps or DevSecOps to scale enterprise level engineering projects. Cisco CCNP (or equivalent) certification. TS/SCI Clearance Relevant SDN certification.
