Computer Support Specialist - 72004221

This is work providing technical assistance to computer system users. Incumbents answer questions or resolve computer problems for clients in person, via telephone or from remote locations. Incumbents may also provide assistance in the use of computer hardware and software, including printing, installation, office productivity software, electronic mail, and operating systems. Responsibilities include: providing technical support and assistance to staff; analyzing problems and implementing solutions; performing computer troubleshooting to diagnose system problems; monitoring and resolving basic connectivity problems; installing, configuring, and testing hardware and/or software; ensuring software licensing compliance and inventory/asset control; performing preventative maintenance and repair hardware; conducting end-user training in operation and use of hardware and software; researching, evaluating and testing hardware and software products and systems solutions; other duties as necessary to fulfill expanding and changing roles/responsibilities of this strategic position. This is a Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm position. Incumbent may be required to work before, during and/or beyond normal work hours or days in the event of an emergency. Emergency duties may include hours in excess of an employee's routine work schedule (working extended hours, weekends, or holidays). On-Call Assignment

This position has been approved in accordance with Section 110.209, Florida Statutes, Chapter 60L-32, Florida Administrative Code, and Collective Bargaining Agreements with the Florida Nurses Association (FNA) and the American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees (AFSCME), Florida Council 79. The approved On-Call form has been forwarded to the servicing human resource office. Preference will be given to those technicians who have experience with: Endpoint Management, Windows 10/ Windows 11, Active Directory/ Entra, Office 365. Knowledge of Personal Computers - Demonstrate basic knowledge and understanding of the fundamentals of a PC. Apply knowledge and understanding of PC fundamentals in the installation, testing, diagnosing, and repairing PC's. Knowledge of Networking - Demonstrate basic knowledge and understanding of networking concepts. Apply knowledge and understanding of networking concepts in the installation, testing, diagnosing, and repairing of workstations in a network environment. Knowledge of Office Software - Demonstrate knowledge of Microsoft Office products. Teamwork - Communicate and coordinate with peers, supervisor, and other staff. Security and Confidentiality - Maintain all job-related information secure and confidential in order to protect workplace information and to assure compliance with confidentiality requirements. Enforce industry best practices regarding information security. Customer Service - Interface with internal/external customers in order to provide information, explain procedures, answer questions and provide support. Accountability, Communication, Empowerment, Flexibility, Integrity, Respect, Teamwork. Position requires sedentary work and repetitive motion. Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. A minimum of one year of experience in computer support. Alternatively, a technical certification or 1 year of college education in Computer Science or a similar technology field from an accredited institution may substitute the work experience.
