Special Assistant Position
The Building People, LLC, has a position open for a full-time Special Assistant in the U.S. Department of Energy's Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE). The Special Assistant will support the EERE Front Office leadership in communicating the EERE office's mission, activities, and goals externally and internally. Using a variety of tactics and strategies, this person will help convey the science behind the office's research and elevate the awareness of the office's activities to stakeholders, the public, and Energy Department leadership. The Special Assistant will support the EERE Assistant Secretary and their team and have the opportunity to contribute to the day-to-day running of the office, accompany and preparation and support on external meetings and events, and coordinate high-level briefings and tasks across all levels of DOE and EERE leadership by performing the following unclassified duties: FO Engagement Request Manager Facilitates intake and review process of all incoming engagement requests for FO principals (internal and external stakeholders) FO Engagement Planning and Coordination Lead Leads planning and coordination calls and process Trip Book Backup Works with Stakeholder Engagement and Legislative Affairs Teams to optimize EERE Front Office principal travel/engagements Manages up to DOE Public Affairs if needed Front Office Memo Lead: Assigns memo to program office, with deadline and asks for staffing support; checks for completeness and accuracy; tracks deadlines. Front Office Briefing Book: responsible for compiling submissions, drafts, and submits briefing book. Tracks follow up of briefing book and facilitates the completion of any action items FO EA Dotted Line Manager: Sharepoint Admin, Smartsheets Admin EERE Leadership Workstream Support FO Leadership Trip Book and Scheduling Backup Special Projects: Drafting/Updating FO Process; Documents Engagement Processes, Scheduling Processes, Advance Processes, Creating Onboarding Processes and materials for FO Admins/Assistants, Retreat Coordination/Leadership Coordination Other projects as assigned Skills & Requirements
Required Experience & Skills: 4 (four) years' experience. Master's Degree may be substituted for two (2) years of experience. Microsoft Office Suite Strong writing and editing skills Strong Written and Oral Communication Skills Strong Organization Skills Onsite Position in Washington DC Preferred Experience & Skills: Energy industry, federal government, knowledge a plus. Required Education: Bachelor's Degree *Our positions may require a background screening and clearance directly from the Government. *Please note that telework arrangements are subject to change based on customer requirements.
