Job Summary
General Maintenance/Grounds Maintenance Reports to: Director of Operations Qualifications: Should be physically capable of performing duties required by the position. Should possess sufficient ability to carry out duties in an intelligent manner. Should have a high school education or GED. Shall present a neat, clean appearance. Should be orderly and willing to learn new techniques of maintenance, housekeeping, and landscaping. Should be dependable, able to get along with people - teachers, principals, and patrons. Must be able to follow instructions and complete task in a timely manner. Must have a valid driver's license. Duties and Responsibilities (Not limited to): Maintain the upkeep of all groundskeeping equipment (i.e. lawnmowers, weed eaters, blowers, and trimmers.) Change oil and grease all required equipment as needed. Maintain a neat and presentable appearance of all Escambia County Schools property. Trim shrubbery Remove vegetation from around properties. Maintain in and around maintenance department (i.e. waxing, stripping floors, cleaning restrooms). Move equipment around at other location if needed. Assist with general labor duties when needed. Assist assigned Maintenance I workers as needed. Keep all building grounds and premises, including sidewalks, driveways, and play areas neat and clean at all times. Maintain inventory of all grounds equipment. Maintain vehicles and trailers (i.e. fluids, tires, and appearance). Change lawnmower blades as needed. Inform Maintenance Director of all supply inventory before depletion of supplies. Required to be augmented out to local schools as required by maintenance director as temporary custodians. Performs any other duties as assigned by supervisor. Evaluation: The performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with the provisions of the Board's policy on personnel evaluation. Experience must be verified on Supplement EXP within the state of Alabama. Outside the state of Alabama, we must have a letter (on school district letterhead) or public school district form showing beginning and ending dates stating your years of service and position held while employed. Credit is awarded for public school experience only, private, parochial, or similar experience will not be accepted. Experience must be full time at least 50%-100% of the academic year. Administrative credit will be awarded only for experience in the same position, i.e., principal for principal position as stated in the salary schedule. Transfer Sick Leave: If you have sick leave from another state school system or from another state of Alabama agency, you must have a Sick Leave Transfer form sent from your previous employer to our Human Resources department. The Escambia County Schools awards a salary based on the highest degree earned, even if the degree is outside education. The degree must be verified on an official transcript & recognized by the Alabama State Department of Education.
