System Administrator 3

All Points is seeking a System Administrator 3 to join our team at NASA Glenn Research Center in Cleveland, OH. Duties may include, but are not limited to: Senior-level systems administration support. Applies advanced knowledge of concepts, processes, practices, and procedures on technical assignments. Performs work that requires advanced practical experience and training. Under general supervision, responsible for installing, configuring, and maintaining operating system workstations and servers, including virtual, cloud, as well as web servers, in support of business processing requirements. Performs software installations and upgrades to operating systems and layered software packages. Schedules installations and upgrades and maintains them in accordance with established IT policies and procedures. Monitors and tunes the system to achieve optimum performance levels. Ensures workstation/server data integrity by evaluating, implementing, and managing appropriate software and hardware solutions. Ensures data/media recoverability by implementing a schedule of system backups and database archive operations. Supports media management through internal methods and procedures or through offsite storage and retrieval services. Develops and promotes standard operating procedures. Conducts routine hardware and software audits of workstations and servers to ensure compliance with established standards, policies, and configuration guidelines. Develops and maintains a comprehensive operating system hardware and software configuration database/library of all supporting documentation. Additional Job Responsibilities: Monitor system performance, security, and availability of Linux and/or Windows servers and appliances. Install software and perform routine system configuration, updates, patches, and upgrades for Linux and/or Windows operating systems and appliances. Assist in managing storage, virtual machines, and virtual networking configurations within the infrastructure operating environment. Manage group policy objects and access permissions. Manage hardware systems. Identify, recommend, and maintain internal tools. Provide tier 2 & 3 support for incidents and requests related to Linux and/or Windows OS environments. Troubleshoot hardware, software, and network issues in Linux and/or Windows systems and appliances. Collaborate and provide technical guidance to other team members to resolve complex technical issues. Diagnose and troubleshoot hardware issues Creating, managing, and testing backup solutions of critical systems Implementing and testing disaster recovery plans to ensure business continuity. Implement security policies and apply security patches for Linux and/or Windows systems. Implement security protocols and requirements for OS image configurations and hardware. Ensure systems are compliant with organizational and industry standards. Identify and remediate hardware and software security vulnerabilities. Assist with periodic security assessments. Maintain clear and up-to-date documentation on system configurations, processes, and troubleshooting procedures. Generate periodic reports on system health, performance, and security status. Work with cross-functional teams, including network, storage, and application teams, to improve system performance. Assist with training and mentoring more novice team members. Participate in ongoing training and certification programs to grow your knowledge and career as an administrator. Education: Bachelors Degree in computer science, IT, or related field (or equivalent work experience) Years of Experience: 6 Years Minimum Required Skills Certifications: Advanced experience with Linux and/or Windows OS administration. Advanced experience with and competent understanding of virtualization concepts. Previous experience with HCL BigFix. Advanced experience with system administration, IT support, and hardware. Strong understanding of Linux and/or OS command-line tools and administrative tasks. Experience and knowledge of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP). Knowledge of virtualization concepts and platforms (such as Nutanix, VMware, or Hyper-V). Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities. Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. Good communication skills Desired Skills: Competence with hardware virtualization technologies and/or Hyperconverged Infrastructure (HCI). Previous experience with Cohesity storage platform. Previous experience with automation technologies such as Ansible and Terraform. Competence with scripting languages such as Bash, PowerShell, or Python for automation. Competence with backup and disaster recovery solutions. Understanding of system security practices, firewalls, and VPN configurations. Experience and strong understanding of ITSM processes and experience with agile methodologies like Scrum, Kanban, SAFe using technologies like Jira or ServiceNow. Security Clearance: Full United States Citizenship Required. Public Trust/NACI/Badging. Salary Range: Approximately $75-85k per year, and we offer a full benefit package.
