Recreation Center Skate Guard (Part-Time)

This is a part-time working position responsible for skater safety as well as the operation, care, and maintenance of recreation center facilities. Essential Job Functions

Supervises skaters and enforces rules during skating sessions. Monitors condition of ice surfaces during public skating. Monitors behavior in, and condition of, lobby, bleachers and Community Center. Assists as needed in cleaning operation of all facilities. Assists in special event set-ups and operations. Insures facility is maintained in a clean and sanitary condition. Distributes and maintains rental skates. Handles emergency situations. Interacts with customers and helps to insure their satisfaction. Other Job Functions

Performs all other work assigned. Required Knowledge And Skills

Knowledge of ice skating operation and related equipment. Knowledge of basic tools. Knowledge of basic cleaning techniques used in facilities. Interpersonal skills. Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergencies. Ability to skate. Required Education, Training And Experience

No additional education, training or experience is required. CPR/AED certification desired. Physical Demands

Physical demands: Hearing, seeing (close up and distance), skating, standing, sitting, climbing, bending, shouting, hand movements, holding, lifting (50+ lbs.) waving arms, running, carrying, pushing, pulling, reaching, grasping, and feeling. Mental demands: Concentration on ice surface and rink areas. Decisions on proper behavior relative to facility rules. Environmental demands: Ability to tolerate cold temperatures.
