Job Description BAE Systems is seeking an on-site Network Engineer to support our work as a prime contractor on a high-profile U.S. Navy weapon system. Accuracy, integrity, subject matter expertise, and the ability to work well independently and with others are important traits we expect the successful candidate to possess and demonstrate. This position is responsible for supporting and maintaining the stability, availability and security of the Navy's SSP networks. You will work with a dedicated team that manages the customer's classified network, provides network engineering support services, VOIP and VTC support services, and support for remote sites across a classified WAN. In this role you will install and maintain the network equipment (routers, switches, etc.) along with implementing and maintaining network security policies; perform hands on technical work configuring and deploying networking equipment in accordance with DoD security requirements; and, troubleshoot and resolve network infrastructure issues. In addition, you create technical documentation to include technical instructions and technical designs. You enjoy working with people and collaborating across teams but have a high degree of personal drive, initiative and the ability to drive change. Travel to off-site locations is required. About BAE Systems and the U.S. Navy's Strategic Systems Programs (SSP) Our organization has supported the U.S. Navy's Strategic Systems Programs (SSP) continually since the program's inception in the 1950s. SSP developed the first sea-based, underwater-launched Strategic Weapon System (SWS), a defense system that is truly critical to our national security. For more than six decades, SSP has maintained and upgraded this weapon system and we have been there every step of the way. The sea-based SWS is the ultimate stealthy weapon system and is the first leg of the U.S. nuclear triad. With over 70% of our nation's nuclear arsenal its importance to maintaining world peace cannot be overstated. The development of Columbia, the most advanced nuclear-powered, nuclear-armed submarine ever designed, as well the next D5LE2 weapon system is under way and will begin to be rolled out over the next decade. The Navy projects this system to be operational through 2084, meaning the program will have a total life span of more than 120 years. This is a unique program and BAE Systems employees on this program understand they are part of an important legacy. As a decades long sole source partner on multiple contracts on behalf of our customer, our program has remarkable stability and is concurrently experiencing significant growth. Minimum Education Required High School/GED Job Category Information Technology Additional Qualifications/Responsibilities Required Education, Experience, & Skills Working full-time on-site at the Washington Navy Yard An active DoD Secret Security Clearance Bachelor's Degree and six years work experience, or equivalent position related work experience Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret Clearance Ability to meet the requirements for an IAT II certification as specified in the DoD 8570 Or, have a SECNAV 5239 qualifying degree AND the ability to meet the requirements for an IAT II as specified in the DoD 8570 within 6 months of start date Comprehensive knowledge of CISCO Technologies along with CLI, CISCO IOS, IOS-XE, IOS-XR Experience with Cisco Routing protocols BGP and static routing Understanding of IT Infrastructure, network administration, classified LAN management, and wide area networks Experience with Cisco Unified Communications (Cisco Unity, Cisco call manager, and Cisco VoIP) Experience with Cisco ISE and 802.1x deployment on end point devices Experience configuring firewalls, routers, switches, and VOIP phones Experience with SolarWinds Ability to troubleshoot network connectivity issues Ability to interact with and effectively present information to peers, management and customers.
