Basic Requirements: A. Degree: physical sciences, life sciences, or engineering that included 30 semester hours in chemistry, supplemented by course work in mathematics through differential and integral calculus, and at least 6 semester hours of physics. OR B. Combination of education and experience -- course work equivalent to a major as shown in A above, including at least 30 semester hours in chemistry, supplemented by mathematics through differential and integral calculus, and at least 6 semester hours of physics, plus appropriate experience of additional education. Specialized Experience (SE): GS-9: Applicant must possess at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-7 grade level. SE is defined as follows: Knowledge of the principles, theories, and methods of chemistry in order to analyze complex materials. Knowledge of laboratory case-working procedures, including quality control and safety procedures, to assure that examinations are conducted according to accepted protocols and that casework is properly coordinated with other responsible units. Knowledge of the principles, theories, and operation of analytical chemistry instrumentation. GS-11: Applicant must possess at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-9 grade level. SE (in addition to above) is defined as follows: Ability to provide laboratory technical documents and respond to technical requests for information. Knowledge of legal procedures and rules of evidence to handle evidence appropriately and provide effective testimony. GS-12: Applicant must possess at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level. SE (in addition to above) is defined as follows: Knowledge of types of examination, policies and procedures, and organizational structure to collect and process evidence. Knowledge in a specialized science discipline to perform and modify methods and procedures to solve problems encountered or to improve the quality results. Education: All degrees must be from an accredited college or university.
