JOB SUMMARY

The Calibration Technician is responsible for ensuring that all instruments used in Operation and R&D are in good operating condition and calibrated according to accepted metrology standards. Through the Blue Mountain Calman software program or equivalent, plan, schedule, perform, troubleshoot, calibrate, and document metrology work. Update or develop relevant calibration SOPs. Perform special projects as assigned by Associate Director Engineering or Sr. Calibration Technician.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Using in-house calibration equipment and standards, check and calibrate all Operation and R & D instruments used in manufacturing and development operations as per Calman schedule or whenever the equipment indicate a need for calibration. Review, update or develop calibration or related SOPs whenever necessary under direction of Sr. Calibration Technician or Process Engineer. Recommend and implement calibration improvement programs. Document failed-part, change control, and instrument report. Keep record of all instrument calibration history Troubleshoot problem instrument and repair if necessary. Purchase necessary tools and parts needed to repair or correct instruments. Maintain and upkeep the calibration lab. Work with or interact with outside metrology contractors, Sr. Calibration Technician, Engineering or Controls Department personnel when needed. Attend needed safety, GMP, and technical training. All other duties as requested. REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

High school diploma or equivalent required. Trade or technical certification a plus. 3+ years' experience working with industrial plant equipment, instrumentation, and operations preferably those that are used in the pharmaceutical, chemical or dairy industries. Knowledge of materials, tools, and measuring instruments used in the calibration lab. Must have a working knowledge of personal computers and basic Microsoft office software. Must have a working knowledge on the basics of electricity, pneumatics, hydraulics, and general instruments for measuring and controlling temperatures, pressures, humidity, oxygen analysis, flow, rpm, time, level, conductivity, and others. Working knowledge of Programmable Logic Controllers is a plus.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

The employee is required to stand, walk, push, pull, twist, reach overhead, and bend to the floor, have visual sharpness for reading written instructions and computer screen, and is subject to office, production and warehouse environments.
