Felony Prosecutor

The Felony Prosecutor is responsible for performing both supervisory and professional legal duties in the prosecution of criminal suspects on behalf of the State of Texas. This role includes preparing felony cases for plea negotiations or trial, conducting legal research to support case preparation, trying cases before juries and judges, negotiating settlements, and drafting legal documents such as briefs, motions, and other necessary filings. Required qualifications include holding a Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school and being licensed to practice law in the State of Texas. A minimum of seven years felony trial experience, appellate experience, asset forfeiture experience, trail experience in sex offenses against children, and grand jury experience required. Must successfully pass a State Criminal History background check. Cost of CLE, TDCAA membership dues and bar dues are included, along with standard county holidays, vacation days, health insurance and excellent retirement benefits (TCDRS, with 205% county match of 7% of salary).
