Instrumentation-EW Engineering Technician IV

SA-TECH is currently looking to hire an Instrumentation-EW Engineering Technician IV at NAS Oceana (Virginia Beach, VA) to maintain all TCTS AS, EW, LATR PIP, Iridium and IMPASS systems/sub-systems and associated equipment. Specific duties include (but are not limited to): Applies advanced technical knowledge to solve complex problems that typically cannot be solved by referencing manufacturers' manuals or similar documents. Performs preventive and corrective maintenance on all EW, TCTS AS, LATR PIP, Iridium and IMPASS subsystems and associated interface equipment. Maintains, repairs, inspects, troubleshoots, and programs systems equipment or components using complex RF test equipment such as pulse generators, spectrum analyzers, signal generators and computer analytical equipment and specialized test equipment (T4B Test Set, LATR Test set, LATR portable test units, and TCTS AS test sets) to perform complex troubleshooting, isolate malfunctions, and repair equipment to the component level when possible. Provides technical guidance and on-the-job training to other technicians. Coordinates with Navy and civilian personnel (aircrews, schedulers) for delivery, installation, maintenance and removal of equipment/assets to meet Unit Level and Large Force Exercise requirements. Coordinates equipment Preventive Maintenance schedules and daily work assignments to lower-level technicians within work section. Extensive equipment handling and administrative processing to prepare/deliver equipment to meet exercise requirements. Documents maintenance actions in IEMS, various logbooks, and databases. Monitors and verifies work order entry accuracy of lower-level technicians. May serve as IMPASS System Maintainer aboard various ships and deploy with equipment during FIREX events. May be required to serve as a project flight technician in support of airborne Developmental Test & Evaluation and Fleet training CAS support requirements. Performance of Flightline/Equipment support requirements during exercises at remote locations. Occasional extended travel required for exercise support. Maintains asset control on all equipment and completes DD1149s for equipment issue. Provides technical support to visiting engineers. Installation of instrumentation equipment on various participant platforms, to include fixed and rotary wing, ship and surface participants. Transports, installs and de-installs Iridium Tracking Units (ITU) on ships, vehicles, and landing craft to bases and facilities onboard naval vessels as required. Fabricates unique power and RF interfaces to allow installation and operation of equipment for non-standard exercise participant platforms. Responsible for quality of contractor range functions, to include operations, scheduling, technical library, security, training, safety, supply, quality assurance, configuration management, and documentation. Equipment delivery, travel to delivery points. Forklift operation. Performs all other position-related duties as assigned or requested. Work Conditions/Physical Requirements: Typical shop/office environment, with some flightline/hangar work. Occasional requirement to work aboard ship with transfer by small boat or helicopter. EW technician will function as onboard tech in CAS aircraft. Working inside helicopter for installation of tracking equipment. Must be physically able to assist in lifting/carrying/loading EW/TCTS/IMPASS equipment if required. Sitting while using the computer terminal, constant use of sight abilities while reviewing documents, constant use of speech/hearing abilities for communication, constant mental alertness. Must possess planning/organizing skills and must be able to work under deadlines. Requirements: Education/Experience/Skills: High School diploma or equivalent is required. Completion of a technical school, trade school, or armed services technical school curriculum equivalent to Navy "C" School or course of training in electricity, electronics, avionics, mechanics, or engineering technology or completion of at least 30 semester hours (45 quarter hours) of course studies at an accredited college or university in an engineering, scientific, or technical curriculum. Minimum position-specific training required at least three (3) years' experience in Electronic Warfare systems or Tactical Combat Training Systems equipment maintenance is preferred and familiarity with Naval Aviation Maintenance and Quality Assurance Programs or equivalent is required. Experience working on military/civilian/commercial flight lines in, and around, aircraft. Must obtain or have a current CPR/First Aid certification (within six (6) months of hire). Ability to speak, read, and write English. Three (3) years' electronic maintenance in the following areas: Digital/analog signal processing Radar and Radar theory Electromechanical devices Communications DC power supplies RF Test equipment RF signal processing (VHF, UHF, and microwave) Low voltage AC equipment Antenna systems Primary and secondary power equipment GPS Receiver testing Current Driver's License required; must be able to be insured through company's vehicle insurance policy while driving work/government/rental vehicles during working hours, and for the duration of employment. U.S. Citizenship required and you must be able to obtain a U.S. DoD Secret Security Clearance prior to hire date and maintain a Secret clearance throughout employment. All candidates will be required to pass background screening to include SSN, Driver Record, and Criminal Background Investigation. Desired Experience: Seven (7) years' technical experience working with tactical training range systems (or equivalent military experience). Training in tactical data information links and fundamentals. Four (4) years' experience with DRMS (Digital Radio Management System) or similar voice and data IP/UDP multicasting. Five (5) years' experience with CMS as a COMSEC. Five (5) years' experience with SATCOM operations (UHF DAMA, GBS, MUOS, WGS, etc.).
