The Team As our first Soft Goods Fabrication Technician, you will play a critical role in developing and building Outpost's soft goods systems - including parafoils, parachutes, and carbon-fabric heat shields. You'll work closely with engineers across the full product life cycle of these products. Your responsibilities will span hands-on fabrication tasks such as cutting, sewing, and rigging, as well as supporting prototype testing in the field. As we move toward scaled production, you'll help define our sewing and rigging standards, contribute to design-for-manufacturing efforts, and shape the foundation of soft goods manufacturing at Outpost. Qualifications: Demonstrated hands-on experience with soft goods systems, including manufacturing and rigging fundamentals Familiarity with FAA regulations and guidelines applicable to soft goods systems (paragliders, parachutes, heat shields) Proficiency with operation, maintenance, and usage of both single- and double-needle industrial sewing machines Ability to demonstrate seamstress abilities during interview, including sample sewing test and demonstration of proper usage of standard measuring tools Certification in small explosives?handling or willingness to complete required training Meticulous attention to detail, ensuring precise build dimensions and consistent quality Strong problem?solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot collaboratively under time?sensitive conditions, including the ability to work independently with task ambiguity Clear and open communication style, both written and verbal Ability to interpret and follow engineering drawings and manufacturing work instructions Physical capability to safely lift and position heavier components and test equipment, with or without reasonable accommodation Responsibilities: Perform sewing of soft goods technologies - such as parafoil, parachutes, and heat shieldsensuring high-quality construction and adherence to design specifications Execute and document inspection processes to assist the team in maintaining a high-quality sewing standard Perform prototype sewing and collaborate with designers, providing feedback to ensure accurate translation of design dimensions into finished parts Support soft goods rigging tasks, create standard operating procedures on parachute packing, assembly, and testing Support field testing of soft goods Creates prototypes for different seam sewing techniques and testing Conducts training sessions and creates manuals on sewing techniques Creates operational tasks related to sewing and records the time of each task Additional Skills or Expertise: Paraglider, parafoil, or parachute sewing experience Recognized paraglider pilot certification (e.g., USHPA) and active flying experience Current skydiving license (or equivalent) with up?to?date jump currency FAA Rigger's License and/or demonstrated parachute?systems trainer experience Additional soft goods manufacturing credentials or instructional certifications Compensation: $60,000 - $80,000, Salary commensurate with experience Incentive Equity Annual Performance-Based Bonus Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance Short- and Long-Term Disability Insurance Life Insurance PTO 401k with Company match Subsidized daily catered lunch, snacks and coffee You must be a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 22 C.F.R.
