Part-Time Fire/Rescue Instructor
Under the supervision of the Director of Fire, Rescue & EMS, the Part-Time Fire/Rescue Instructor performs administrative, record keeping, educational and instructional duties in the classroom setting. Work involves preparing and delivering lectures, teaching practical skills and maintaining student attendance as required by the Community College System. Instructors shall maintain documents as needed for enrollment of students and prepare and submit necessary documentation for continued accreditation. Performs related work as required. Examples Of Duties
Provides Fire & Rescue certification instruction and continuing education courses Conducts all Practical Skills student evaluations and determines when the student has demonstrated competency in each skill Must show working knowledge of NC OSFM program educational requirements and successful skills completion Conducts written and practical skills testing in accordance with NC Fire & Rescue Commission guidelines Advises students, conducts learning labs as needed and assists with registration Will assist the program coordinator with ensuring that all required materials, equipment and supplies are available to the students Prepares attendance reports and administers attendance policy Minimum/Required Qualifications
High School Diploma (or equivalent) with 3 or more years of Fire/Rescue field experience Certified Firefighter with the NC Office of State Fire Marshall (OSFM) General or Qualified Level I Fire Instructor or higher Prior training and/or teaching experience in Fire/Rescue field Knowledge about methods of instruction, testing and evaluation of students Valid NC Drivers License Creativity and openness to change Strong oral and written communication skills Strong computer skills and commitment to the use of technology in instruction Preferred: Qualified Level II Fire Instructor certification with NC OSFM Experience with instructional technology Halifax Community College 100 College Drive Weldon, North Carolina, 27890 252-536-7242
