Senior Paralegal
Leidos is looking for a Senior Paralegal to join our Washington, DC team. Primary responsibilities include working under the direction of a Supervisory Paralegal or Project Supervisor, compiling, preparing, and summarizing relevant materials for use by attorneys in discovery and in preparation of motions, briefs, and other legal documents. The role also involves performing moderately complex legal research, synopsizing transcripts of hearings and oral arguments for attorney use, reviewing case-related materials, and writing preliminary drafts of simple legal memoranda and correspondence. Additional tasks include summarizing depositions and other transcripts, maintaining detailed indexes of case files, and conducting database searches and legal research. The position requires hands-on familiarity with a variety of computer applications, including word processing, databases, spreadsheets, imaging, and hardware systems, as well as ESI tools and knowledge of eDiscovery procedures and resources. Required qualifications include a paralegal certificate, JD, or currently attending an ABA-accredited law school, having completed at least one year of study, or four years of legal training or experience or equivalency. Additionally, at least two years of litigation paralegal experience or project experience is required, along with at least one year of experience in automated litigation support. The role requires sound working knowledge of federal and state court systems, legal research procedures, and legal research resources, as well as excellent written and oral communication skills and thorough knowledge of legal research tools such as LEXIS and Westlaw. The role also requires hands-on familiarity with a variety of computer applications, including word processing, databases, spreadsheets, imaging, and hardware systems, as well as ESI tools and knowledge of eDiscovery procedures and resources. Ability to consistently deliver highest quality work under extreme pressure is important, and the role requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance. The role must also be a U.S. citizen. Preferred qualifications include knowledge of and experience with Bluebook citations, familiarity with the Microsoft suite, including Excel and Word, as well as Adobe Acrobat, experience with Relativity, strong analytic, organizational, and writing skills, trial experience, and an active Public Trust Clearance.
