Assistant Dean, Community Engagement and Belonging

We are searching for an experienced Assistant Dean, Community Engagement and Belonging at our Goldsmith Campus - Westchester campus. Primary Duties and Responsibilities: The Assistant Dean for Community Engagement and Belonging will engage in administrative practices that support the successful execution of policies, programs, events, and initiatives aligned with the college's vision, values, and goals. The Assistant Dean for Community Engagement and Belonging is responsible for organizational and programmatic initiatives in collaboration with campus departments and the college's shared governance bodies focused on inclusive excellence. This includes researching high impact practices, programming support, and fostering a sense of belonging for all individuals from all lived experiences and ideological perspectives. The Assistant Dean will contribute expert knowledge and skills to advance organizational change in the following ways: utilizing assessment practices to determine areas of improvement to enhance a sense of belonging across campus; develop proposals or initiatives that promotes positive growth in the areas of community building and belonging; and creatively develops ways to further engage an promote a strong sense of community engagement for students. Collaborate with community partners with the intent to provide additional resources, programmatic collaborations, and potential partnerships focused on student success. The Assistant Dean will oversee large scale programming specific to community development and will supervise the Director of Student Engagement and Leadership to co-create and implement the vision, goals, and outcomes that align with the college's strategic plan, and the Division of Student Affairs' strategic goals and initiatives. This role will oversee, along with the Dean and VP of Student Affairs, the ongoing implementation and adoption of restorative practices to build a stronger community, create trust and transparency, and be responsive to difficult issues that can be resolved with a restorative outcome in collaboration with other relevant departments at the College. The Assistant Dean for Community Engagement and Leadership reports directly to the Dean of Student Affairs. Core Duties and Responsibilities: Leadership & Strategic Oversight (25%)

Supervises and oversees the Office for Student Engagement and Leadership Leads and coordinates institutional committees and initiatives such as LGBTIA+ Inclusion Committee, Indigenous Community Committee, Black Creatives Institute, BIPOC Student Summit, etc. Co-chair the college-wide Council on Community Engagement and Belonging and work with the council members to develop strategies that support the vision, mission, values, and goals of Otis College's strategic plan. Develops strategic planning with the VP of Student Affairs and engages in assessment projects that monitor progress around community engagement and belonging, as well as setting goals for future planning. Performs other related duties as assigned Community Engagement & Belonging (25%)

Co-chairs the Council on Community Engagement and Belonging Supports campus-wide programming specific to community engagement and belonging, such as International Women's Day, International Education Week, Black Creatives Institutes, history months and visibility days. And co-lead/coordinate MLK Day of Service. Leads initiatives rooted in restorative practices and community building Leads and participates in committees focused on building inclusive communities (e.g., Indigenous Community Committee, Community and Belonging Co-Curricular Committee) Inclusive Student Support & Advocacy (20%)

Provides guidance and thought leadership for international student support, and first-generation student success. Supports, advocates, and provides programmatic leadership for Veterans Supports student retention and success through collaborative programming Co-leads the Bystander Intervention Program focused on student safety, identity, and well-being Co-leads the Bias Incident Response Team, monitors trends, and addresses reports from the campus community Cross-Divisional Collaboration & Capacity Building (10%)

Collaborates with VP, Human Resources and Faculty Liaison on inclusive practices for faculty and staff Supports learning and development opportunities to enhance cultural competency and inclusive practices across the college. Assessment, Research & Data-Driven Decision Making (10%)

Leads assessment and reporting efforts related to sense of belonging and identity development Coordinates data collection and utilization to inform policy and practice in partnership with Institutional Research Tracks and assesses bias incidents to inform institutional response and improvement Works closely with VP for Student Affairs around strategic planning, and divisional assessment and support. Engagement & Inclusive Culture (10%)

Provides leadership and infrastructure for Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) in collaboration with Human Resources and Development. Fosters a more inclusive and self-sustaining employee community Engage in external partnerships that are mutually supportive (programmatic and/or financial) for the college and the external partner organization. Communicate and collaborate closely with the VP of Student Affairs and Institutional Advancement to build strategy, priorities, and goals when engaging in external partnerships. Required Qualifications: Master's degree from an accredited college or equivalent work experience Substantial experience in developing initiatives and programs that support students' needs, especially those who may have historically struggled with college achievement. Understands how to work with a diverse student body, as well as faculty and staff. Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. Proven ability to effectively build partnerships and influence stakeholders and decision-making at all levels of a complex institution. Demonstrated experience in the creation, assessment, and reporting of strategic goals focused on community development and overall sense of belonging across all constituent groups. Remains updated and aware of local, state, and federal laws that impact policies. Experience planning programs and events, including promoting, marketing, and executing. Experience and understanding of restorative practices. Preferred Skills and Experience: Experience working in an academic setting.
