Corporate Senior Accountant

Location: Atlanta, GA Position Summary: The Senior Accountant will be a key member of the corporate controllers group with an opportunity to interpret and apply complex accounting rules to a range of various accounting duties in support of the broader Finance and Accounting Team. General duties will include ad-hoc projects, compiling and analyzing data, preparing or reviewing accounting schedules and journal entries, preparing financial statement disclosure schedules, and working cross-functionally across the organization with teams around the world. Overall: Close Activities: On a monthly and quarterly basis, assist corporate accounting team in completing close activities. Prepare certain account reconciliations and journal entries to support the monthly and quarterly close process. Accounting Policy Ownership: Maintain and improve relevant account policies to ensure consistency and compliance across the organization. Regularly review and update policies to reflect current and best practices. Internal Control Ownership: Maintain internal effective internal controls to safeguard company assets. Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of internal controls, making improvements, as necessary. Technical Accounting: Apply technical accounting knowledge to complex transactions and reporting requirements. Knowledge of GAAP and other relevant accounting standards. Continuous Improvement: Demonstrate intellectual curiosity by proactively identifying areas for process improvement. Engage in ongoing learning and development to stay current with industry trends and best practices. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work collaboratively with various departments including Regional Accounting teams, Corporate Treasury, Internal Audit, and other finance teams to ensure seamless integration of accounting processes. Participate in cross-functional projects and initiatives to support organizational goals and enhance financial operations. Treasury: Global Treasury Support: Prepare cash compare and FX on cash workpapers. Liaise with Treasury and Financial Reporting regulatory. Global Allowance for Doubtful Accounts: Perform and post quarterly projections. Prepare applicable footnote disclosures. Review monthly activity for reasonableness. Global Foreign Exchange (FX) Support: Monthly review of MTM unrealized and realized gains/losses and global spot trades. Risk Management Support: Prepare and post monthly and quarterly entries in agreement with actuary projections and current claim activity for domestic casualty and global real estate policies. Prepare balance sheet account reconciliations and perform balance sheet variance analysis. External Reporting: Prepare the filing of the Company's external financial reports, including all 10-Q's, 10-K's and certain 8-K's filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission ("SEC"). Support the Investor Relations function with the preparation and accuracy of publicly shared materials such as: press releases and corresponding exhibits, investor presentations, and other supporting materials. Basic Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent concentration. CPA or equivalent certification preferred. Technical accounting expertise and proactive approach to learning. 3+ years of experience in public accounting firm (preferred) or corporate accounting at a public company. Proficiency in Oracle and other accounting software preferred. Strong verbal, written, analytical, and problem-solving skills with a vigorous attention to detail. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally. Ability to self-direct and multitask in a dynamic environment.
