Senior Programmer/Analyst

Location: Farmingdale, NY Category: Professional The Senior Programmer/Analyst in the Administrative Computing department provides all aspects of developing, programming, testing, and implementing solutions to support the College's Ellucian Banner Student Information System (SIS). This role is integral to the effective operation of administrative and academic areas such as Admissions, Registrar, Financial Aid, Student Accounts, Finance, Institutional Research, Academic Affairs, and Student Affairs. Additionally, this position supports the integration and configuration of ancillary systems, including Slate CRM, to enhance institutional operations. Key Responsibilities:

Implement technical specifications and designs; writing source code, troubleshooting, preparing an accurate test environment, testing, debugging, assessing, and revising programs as necessary to streamline, enhance, and maintain program and process functionality for the Ellucian Banner SIS and its associated modules. Perform database development and management using Oracle PL/SQL, ensuring data integrity and optimized performance. Create and maintain Linux/UNIX shell scripts to support automation and system processes. Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues within Ellucian Banner and other integrated systems. Develop reports, workflows, and data integrations using tools such as Argos and FormFusion. Configure and support ancillary systems, including Slate CRM, to align with institutional goals. Provide technical documentation, end-user training, and ongoing system support to the campus community. Work effectively with end users to understand their technical and operational needs and then document those needs and present them to more senior members of the programming staff. The candidate must have the ability to work independently or as part of the team and ability to manage multiple priorities and tasks. Ensure compliance with institutional and industry standards for data security, privacy, and accessibility. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree in computer programming, or related field. Minimum three years programming experience with Oracle PL/SQL and/or SQL. Functional knowledge of Ellucian Banner or equivalent student information system. Programming in a Linux/Unix environment. Proven ability to analyze problems and formulate real-time solutions in a fast-paced environment. Ability to work on multiple tasks independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams. Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Experience with both procedural and object-oriented programming languages using secure coding practices. Experience in additional programming languages such as Java, C++, Groovy. Research, monitor, prepare, and coordinate Ellucian Banner releases and patches. Determine relevance and impact. Ability and motivation to stay current with technology related to the position. Evidence of knowledge of or experience working with Oracle and experience with 3rd party software integration. Experience with reporting and document enhancement tools such as Evisions Argos and FormFusion or Power BI or HigherEd equivalent BI. Familiarity with DegreeWorks Degree Audit system and TouchNet U.Commerce solutions. Experience with Slate CRM. Experience working in a higher education environment. Additional Information:

This is a full-time UUP position. For the first 10 working days, beginning Tuesday, August 5, 2025, and ending Monday, August 18, 2025, applications will be limited to UUP Farmingdale. CLOSING DATE FOR RECEIPT OF APPLICATIONS: Open Until Filled SALARY: $75,000+ $4,000 in downstate location pay = $79,000 Total Compensation. Salary may increase commensurate with experience.
