Endoscopy Technician I
At Houston Methodist, the Endoscopy Technician I (Endo Tech) position, under the direction of a Registered Nurse and/or physician, provides support to the gastroenterology (GI) providers and other members of the healthcare team and is directly involved in patient care before, during and after procedures. This position assists with gastroenterology (GI) endoscopy procedures related to preparation for and assisting with room turnaround activities for procedures, which include cleaning and processing of endoscopes and accessory equipment. The Endo Tech I position is familiar with all endoscopy supplies and other related equipment ensuring that items are ready, available and in good working conditions at all times. Other duties for this position will include department upkeep, as delegated by licensed personnel. Houston Methodist Standard

Quality/Safety Essential Functions Utilizes proper use, handling, cleaning, and high-level disinfecting techniques of endoscopes, equipment and accessories. Assists in cleaning room for turnover as needed. Finance Essential Functions Uses resources efficiently; does not waste supplies. Assists team members in maintaining inventories. Monitors supplies to maintain par level. Growth/Innovation Essential Functions Identifies and assumes responsibility of own learning needs, consults with healthcare team experts and seeks continuing education opportunities to meet those needs. Seeks opportunities to expand learning beyond novice competencies with a focus on continual development. Qualifications
Education High School diploma or equivalent education (examples include: GED, verification of homeschool equivalency, partial or full completion of post-secondary education, etc.) Work Experience One (1) year of patient care experience in a healthcare setting Previous endoscopy or direct patient care experience preferred License/Certification
Licenses and Certifications - Required BLS - Basic Life Support (AHA) Ksa/Supplemental Data
