The Veterinary Medical Center at The Ohio State University is recruiting a Veterinary Care Technician (RVT) to work in its Equine Surgery service.
Work involves assisting
a veterinarian in technical procedures
and activities involving animal
care
within the
specialty area of Equine S
urgery
.
The s
uccessful candidate will
assist
team clinicians and care-giving colleagues with the reception,
evaluation, and treatment of all patients within the E
quine
Surgery unit. The successful candidate will o
rganize, direct
, and provid
e
helpful and collegial
assi
stance
to
clinicians, residents,
professional
students
and technical students during appointments as well as p
rovide support for lameness evaluations and sterile joint preparations. Job duties include j
ogging with horse in hand, a
ssisting
with general patient exams and restraint for procedures, a
ssisting with diagnostic services such as digital radiographs, ultrasound, and other advanced imaging modalities. This position also provides s
urgical
assistance
by
preparing patient
an
d equipment for surgery, p
lacing IV catheters and administering preoperative medications, s
etting
up
appropriate equipme
nt and instruments and cleaning and disinfect operating roo
ms, equipment, and related areas.
Other job duties include p
roviding technica
l support during procedures such as upper airway endoscopy, treadmill evaluations, and shockwave therapy, a
ssisting
with regenerative therapies and procedures
(PRP, ACP, IRAP, and Stem Cell), o
verseeing,
assisting
, and
instructing professional veterinary
and technical
st
udents in preparation of patients
and equipment for medical procedures and delivery of care, c
heck-in and discharge patients using proper protocols
and d
ocumentation in
ezyVet
charge entry, patient vitals and weight. Hiring Range -
$23.89 - $29.86 MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Graduate of accredited program within clinical discipline; advanced degree may be desirable
Requires clinical license or certification. Registered Veterinary Technician through The Ohio Veterinary Medical Licensing Board. Must pass the Veterinary Technician National Exam. 0 years of relevant experience required. 0-2 years of relevant experience preferred. Additional Information:
