Hospital for Special Surgery #1 in Orthopedic for the last 15 years is currently looking for an experienced and energetic Full Time Medical Secretary for one of our physician offices. Dr. Trehan is an orthopedic surgeon in the Hand & Upper Extremity Service and treats patients of all ages, from newborns to older adults. He specializes in the evaluation and treatment of a wide range of conditions affecting the hand, wrist, forearm and elbow, including fractures, nerve compression syndromes, ligament and tendon injuries, and congenital anomalies. In this role you will provide comprehensive administrative support and direction to this physician practice, supporting day-to-day operations and contributing to an environment of clinical excellence. In this role, you will provide support for the operations of this high-volume medical office. This includes, but not limited to, answering phones, scheduling patient appointments, surgical booking; obtain authorizations/certifications for treatments and diagnostic procedures, patient check-in/out, including copay collection, scanning documents into the EMR and any additional tasks as assigned. Competencies/Skills
Experience with Epic Medical Records System required; strong computer skills required as well Superior written and oral communication skills Exceptional customer service skills Ability to follow through with tasks to completion Strong organizational and problem-solving skills Ability to multitask in a fast paced environment Ability to effectively and accurately follow directions or instructions Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team; offers to help coworkers when needed Detail-oriented Ability to escalate issues appropriately Consistently displays a positive attitude towards one's work and work environment Experience with surgical scheduling preferred Knowledge of healthcare and health insurance, required Familiarity with medical terminology and general office protocol required. Upholds Standards of HSS Staff - Coordinates enrollment Coordinates physician enrollment in managed care plans. Upholds Standards of HSS Staff - Ensures compliance Ensures compliance of managed care companies with negotiated contracts. Upholds Standards of HSS Staff - Resolves payor issues Followsup and resolving payment issues with Insurance Payors. Upholds Standards of HSS Staff - Acts as liaison Acts as a liaison between physician offices and Insurance Payors. Upholds Standards of HSS Staff - Assists with meetings Schedules, coordinates, and documents for all PHO related meetings. Maintains Documentation & Manages Information - Maintains tracking logs Creates and maintains tracking logs for Insurance Payor issues and accountability for closing out items.
