We are currently seeking an Associate or Senior Editor with experience in research to join Communications AI & Computing - a new multidisciplinary open access journal in the Nature Portfolio. The journal will publish research spanning the broad landscape of computational science, including artificial intelligence, machine learning, deep learning, and their applications in addressing complex scientific and societal challenges, encompassing both fundamental and applied research, from the development of algorithms, tools, and frameworks that advance scientific discovery to methodologies that utilize computational approaches to generate insights and solve real-world problems. The journal will initially be run jointly with Nature Communications, with a combined internal team and a joint Chief Editor, but with a separate Editorial Board. Communications AI & Computing complements our other Nature Portfolio open access titles, such as Nature Communications, the other Communications series journals, Scientific Reports as well as the suite of NPJs. About the Role

If you love science, are passionate about communication of science, and enjoy reading papers outside your chosen area of research, you could be the person we are looking for to join the editorial team of Communications AI & Computing. The Associate or Senior Editor will be responsible for assessing the novelty and importance of manuscripts and preparing them for publication. You will also promote the journal's coverage of all fields relevant to computational science, with a particular focus on theoretical and foundational AI/ML. The ideal candidate will hold a PhD in computer science, statistics, or information engineering, with an emphasis on learning theory, optimization, or model evaluation, and have research experience applying these methods in domains such as physics, life or social sciences, or related scientific disciplines. Role Responsibilities

Selection of manuscripts for publication Making manuscripts accessible to a wide readership Ensuring manuscripts accepted for publication are transferred to production Recommending manuscripts to the Chief Editor Recruiting, training, supporting and keeping engaged a team of external editors Attending conferences and meetings and reporting on these activities Advising Advertising and Marketing Devising and supplying editorial content for special projects Experience, Skills & Qualifications

Research experience to PhD level in one or more disciplines that fall within sciences pertaining to computational science Editorial experience, postdoctoral experience and broad training will be an advantage A passion for science and a desire to learn more The ability to read and assess the novelty, context and implications of research Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and fluency in English A desire to meet scientists worldwide, online and in person Applicants should include: CV (including a brief account of their research and other relevant experience) Brief cover letter explaining their interest in the post and their salary expectations A 150-word outline of an exciting development in computational science research Closing Date: August 19th - Candidates will be considered as they apply. The salary offer may vary based on work experience, education, skill level and equity.
